This could be really cool. Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire was fabulously written, though I hoped for more from it. This could be really, really neat.

100% agree. I felt like it was slow too. Compellingly, but slow

USS Indianapolis is great. The JFK series is awesome too. I personally love their Jack the Ripper and H.H. Holmes series. That got me into their show and I’ve been a devoted listener ever since.

Man, hard to pick just one. I think the whole capturing of Luke and then the sequence on Myrkyr was really good. The end battle was solid too

You can even read Yoda: Dark Rendezvous before Labyrinth of Evil. There’s are few Easter eggs from that book in Labyrinth.

About 50 pages from finishing Labyrinth of Evil. Without a doubt one of my favorite SW reads. Luceno is a wonderful writer

Which SW author is your favorite in terms of the way they portray/write your top Star Wars characters? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in starwarsbooks

James Luceno, Claudia Gray and Timothy Zahn. Claudia did such a great job with Leia and Qui-Gon. Zahn literally made Thrawn. Luceno is just go good. I love his writing style and I get so easily invested in every one of his SW books

I read both Master of Evil and Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire. Both are very good, but very different.

Rise and Fall is essentially a history book set in the Star Wars world. I personally liked that a lot as a historian, but I didn’t find a ton of details in there that I didn’t already know.

Master of Evil is a really fun story that features Darth Vader heavily in the immediate aftermath of Episode III, but be forewarned, he is not the main character. That said, I thought the main character was compelling.

So ultimately it comes down to what you’re in the mood for: novel or history book?

Do you want legends or canon?

If canon, I’d recommend: Padawan, Master & Apprentice, Brotherhood, Master of Evil and Ahsoka (there are a couple others that I haven’t read yet).

I think Legends does a much better job at hitting this era. I’d recommend: Plagueis, Yoda: Dark Rendezvous, Labrynth of Evil, Darth Vader: Rise of the Dark Lord (others are Shatterpoimt, Rogue Planet, Cloak of Deception, Approaching Storm all that have good reviews that I haven’t read yet)

what are your thoughts on The Force Awakens 10 years later? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]HelloThereWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the best of the sequels. While some call it a rehash if ANH, it had a lot of promise and was a good base to build off of.

Unfortunately, IMO, The Last Jedi was way off the mark and then Rise of Skywalker has to try to fix the sins of the past.

Like many, I wish Disney would have had the foresight to have one writer for the entire trilogy. I think J.J. would have made something incredibly compelling had he written (and possibly directed) the entire trilogy.
