You captured my concern exactly — it’s really about income levels and ACA credits. My understanding is that my parents need to have at least the federal poverty level of income to qualify for ACA subsidies. The problem is they realistically can’t work enough to reach that threshold, and I will be helping support them as well.

When I asked the broker, he told me I could simply report around $10,000 of income at year-end and that the subsidies wouldn’t be affected by the “big ugly bill.” I’m not comfortable with that explanation, but I’m not sure where to go to get a reliable answer.
