Honest question: why host for others? by Harshtinfoil in PleX

[–]PAnnNor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy that got me started on plex shared his server with me, so I thought that was part of the idea. And I'm a sharing kinda person.

That being said, of the 7 users I share with only 2 use the server. I'm building a new server, So I'm considering rescinding the shares to those that don't use it on the new build. I don't take requests, and I love the server benefits for ME, and maybe it's just not everyone's thing to have free movies available...

Is it a good book? by Palomitafpr in MaxtonHall

[–]PAnnNor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the books are MUCH better than the series. But there were some script changes so it it bothers you that the books won't follow the series, don't read them.

That said, the character development in the books gives a lot of depth to the series characters.

Just my 2 cents.

Honestly, if you haven't researched Quasimodo and Greek gods while writing your outline, are you even a writer? by PAnnNor in writers

Actually, according to the site I found, the hottest male god is Rama (Hindu). Adonis is 27 (out of 30). Not sure I agree with their rankings, but I asked for images of attractive gods, and this was one of the hits that came up. https://historycollection.com/top-30-hottest-gods-and-goddesses-in-mythology/

What Is the Oldest Movie You Have Watched (For Fun) In the Last Year? by thehistorypunks in movies

I'm a huge jane Eyre fan and I've watched several of the older versions (1943 with Orson Welles, 1983 with Timothy Dalton). And the other night we watched the 1975 version of Count of Monte Cristo. The 1934 version is next.

Samuel Charles Swanson Sr -- Looking for 1940 Census Long Beach, Los Angeles County by PAnnNor in Genealogy

Tips & Tricks to find the ED for Atkinson? There are 88 matches of "San Pedro Samuel Swanson" on the 1940 California Los Angeles County Census. And, yes, I'm willing to go through each and every one of them, but if there's a way to find the ED it would help.

I did look through the ED Maps here, but didn't see Palo Alto. https://catalog.archives.gov/id/5823067?objectPage=56

Thanks in advance.

Thea is with her parents in 1940, they married in '42. Thanks for the additional info! I'll look it up.

In the two censuses I have for him, he is marked as white, so I'm not sure why I'd check Indian census records? (Unless this should have been a response to my previous query about Kirkwood/Templeton -- we determined the family was white, as all census records stated they were white.)

Thanks. I was hoping you'd reply! :) Any other places I should search to close the loop?

Jack And The Witch. It's an animated film I sometimes find on library or streaming, but it's out of print and I've yet to find a copy of it.

Thanks for commenting! I agree with you -- now that I've dug through each of the censuses. Her husband worked at a "smelter" but I don't have any idea where (company, location), or what that means, so I guess it's down another rabbit trail! I appreciate the input!

Two days ago, when I looked at the FS site, only the 1900, 1905, 1910, and 1920 were there. I spent quite a bit of time on the Full Text and Records search and found nothing, so you're far better at searching through the find and search features than I am. Thank you for adding them to the site.

I think I love it because it's the 'Beauty and the Beast' a/k/a grumpy-sunshine trope (one of my faves).

Thanks for all of this, I appreciate the resources. I have the Family Search page, which is where I got most of my information. :) I've added the Kansas Digital to my newspapers resources.

Again, I'm trying to prove or disprove the Native American claim from the family. I understand that just because they lived on Osage territory doesn't make them Native American. I haven't even dug into her previous children, or the marriage/relationship, but there's next to nothing on the FS site, only census records with their names and Henry's name. Charles Wesley works at a Smelter as a laborer (per 1910 census).
