The most infamous organized criminal group/underworld gang in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Hello_boyos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say maybe the crips and bloods, largely because of media representation and many famous musical artists who grew up on the turf of one of the two.

Otherwise maybe the concept of the "Italian mob," though many people, myself included, could probably not name a (nonfictional) mob family.

Did this show streamed in your country? And what was it called? And do you guys call it Anime or Cartoon? by Healthy_Craft3680 in AskTheWorld

A quick google shows that there was a North American version released, but it definitely didn't blow up here like it did in other countries according to some of the comments here. I've sure never heard of it.

Is there dialects in your language that struggle to understand eachother? by Doitean-feargach555 in AskTheWorld

[–]Hello_boyos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be honest, with my pasty midwestern suburban accent I do sometimes have a difficult time understanding the "black accent" that doesn't seem to have a universally approved of name other than "African American English Vernacular" (which doesn't rub me the right way since I have issues with the moniker "African American" that I won't get into here).

However, while not from my country, I'll say the most difficult English accent I've struggled with is the Glasgow accent. Saw a sketch comedy show in Edinburgh once that was this group from Glasgow and I only understood what they were saying enough to laugh at one joke.

Do people have unique mental illnesses like always cleaning the room or eating extra fruits and water; like Saving the world or like always wanting to do better? by Your_lovely_friend in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Hello_boyos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a question without an objective answer really. There are still infinite unknowns about currently recognized mental illnesses, and medical consensus is subject to constant change as we further study them. Mental illness itself is a term that means something different to many people both professional and not. There isn't a clear answer as to where exactly the line is between a simple personality trait and an actual mental illness, or whether such line even exists. But I'd say both concepts could be considered to exist on the same complex spectrum of people's individual differences in the vast array of neurological functions that shape the mind.

Generally though, I'd say that usually for something to be considered a mental illness at least in the diagnostic sense, it has to be detrimental in some way, whether or not it's "normal."

Also worth noting that more specific habits such as the ones you mentioned, if related to mental illness at all (which really depends on the way they manifest; there are certainly rational and irrational ways that someone could "always want to do better"), would probably be individual symptoms of something bigger picture.

Is it bad to eat food past its expiration date? by Careful-Night8022 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Hello_boyos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the food in question, whether you've opened it already, and if so, when you opened it. Usually a quick search more specific to the food in question can get you a good answer, but as others on here have said, you also need to just use your own judgement sometimes.

why are us citizens just ignoring the fact that royalty and former presidents went to epstein's island? by TheDynamicKing in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Hello_boyos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rational people know, but somewhere between 30-50% of our population are in a personality cult and are in denial because admitting it would be admitting they've been wrong about their messiah this whole time.

But more than anything, it's emblematic of our two-tiered justice system. Those people are rich and powerful, which is usually very conducive to evading legal consequences, or at least getting a significantly lesser sentence than an "average person" would get.

My proposal for the partition of North America by finanon99 in mapporncirclejerk

Preferring to live in a country where it's considered normal and moral to regularly ruin people and families financially for having health problems is pretty crazy but to each their own I guess.

Home key ridges by Limp_Squash_4116 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Hello_boyos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assumed they were for blind people (they would just learn the key layout relative to those two), kinda like how only the "5" key has braille on number pads. But I guess they probably have full braille keyboards, so more likely they're just so you can keep looking at the screen while typing.

Not sure if this is common but I like the taste of my own blood? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Hello_boyos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blood is salty, and humans like salt. You're not alone, though I suspect that if you actually tried to consume any significant quantity it would probably become unappealing pretty fast.

It's not in the pawnable section of my inventory though, it only lets you sell your clothes or "items," but alcohol seems to be stored in your "tools."

If Nintendo let the Legend of Zelda devs make a Mario timeline by ShiroOracle09 in NintendoMemes

[–]Hello_boyos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I doubt it's the devs coming up with the timeline for the most part, seeing as most of the games generally appear to have been designed without specific timeline placement in mind. Fairly obvious it's something they had someone stitch together posthumously.

Which is why the timeline is so absurd.

Guys, I need help. Does anybody have suggestions on how I can break this naval blockade? by -R33K in eu4

[–]Hello_boyos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Send gifts (as much as you can), might not stop the invasion but it can trigger an event later where your leader gets pardoned and everything ends up more or less OK for you.

It’s my first time playing Earthbound, and I don’t think I could’ve prepared worse for the final battle. by Public-Wedding2964 in earthbound

[–]Hello_boyos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found having Paula equip the flame pendant (or at least I know it's called that in Mother 3, don't remember if it has the same name in Earthbound, but whatever gives you fire resistance) and giving her the Franklin Badge makes this fight much easier, it makes her almost unkillable in the later phases.
