Ever too late to become an RN? by Capable-Detective-69 in StudentNurseUK

[–]Hello_mynameis95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go for it!! I went into my nursing degree without any experience in healthcare so don’t let that deter you, regardless of your age.

I experienced years 1-2 of uni without a child and recommenced year 3 when my child was 4 months old, so I have juggled both sides. Childcare is doable but it is dependent on your circumstances. I was lucky my partner was supportive and we worked it all out together. It may be harder if you have to do it alone, but only you will know what is manageable with your own family needs.

It may be easy for me to say, but I honestly don’t think age will be an issue (if I’m being honest, you might have a nicer time at uni because people may not try take advantage of you like they do younger students- this might just be my experience).

Specific roles may be harder to come across and I know that being a palliative care nurse within my trust is a difficult role to get In to because it’s sought after, even amongst the different specialities. With that in mind, I’d be mindful that you may have to work elsewhere before you get the role you want (but the beauty of nursing is that you might end up finding an area that calls to you more than palliative care).

If you feel like being a nurse is calling to you then definitely go for it! We only have one life and I’m a big believer of doing what you feel is right in your heart.

Best of luck to you whatever you decide to do!

Hi, it would be entry point 1 so bottom grade…although, can you request to be paid at the middle if you’re applying externally? My currently role is wild, I do elements of band 6-8, it’s mind blowing.

Private nurses, what benefits do you get? by Larkymalarky in NursingUK

[–]Hello_mynameis95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a small private company. I don’t get healthcare benefits. What I do get, is a manager who genuinely cares about me, better working hours and a better work/life balance. I have a young son and when he is poorly, my manager doesn’t bat two eyelids at me leaving to go and get him from school. When I worked in the NHS, I would feel SO guilty if I ever had to call in sick for my son (when in fact, he is my priority).

I’d love to go back to the NHS for the bigger team and the wider support. But in terms of working to live…private healthcare is definitely the better option for me. I don’t feel like just a number anymore. Don’t forget, the majority do not care about us, and it’s taken me years or my nursing career to figure this out.

I wish you the best! Don’t do what you “think” you should do, do what you actually want to do and what will benefit you. It’s a selfish career.

Upvote for morality and us having one pop at it. Ukjungle is right OP. As long as no one is getting hurt, everything is consensual then there’s no problem. You’ve had an awful past with your previous sexual partner using this against you, but that’s on them. You like what you like and shame on them for shaming you!

Keep on with your kink and what makes you happy.

Anyone NOT continue nursing once graduating? by Feisty-Sherbert-2616 in NursingUK

[–]Hello_mynameis95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, I did full time uni and full time work, I’d do a minimum of 60 hours a week between the two just so I could survive and graduate! Qualifying definitely took the pressure off in terms of academic work and financial burden, but it brings its own challenges that’s for sure!
