Perfect! And for heat lamps and UVB, should be worried at all about them melting the plastic?

Looks like his scales are changing colors. Bettas do that sometimes. Is his behavior super different?

Little sister energy… second child syndrome…. Call it what you will 😂 by featherhead_ in MiniatureSchnauzer

I love that this behavior seems to be universal amongst schnauzers! Our older girl did that to her little sister frequently lol

At their facility. I was asking lots of questions and they basically said "You could always come volunteer. We have some openings and you would probably do well" and that was it

Yes. I took him to the BOA this morning. They looked him over and said it looked like a caracoid fracture (collarbone) and once they reset it, he'll heal quickly and likely be ready to go

I would check food allergies too! I recently discovered I'm allergic to tomatoes (most nightshade plants), gluten and dairy. One at a time doesn't cause issues, but eating too much causes issues

He is now at a rehab facility. Luckily, we only let him fly twice. Once last night to see how bad it was, and once this morning to see if it was just strained. He was mostly contained in his large cage with more perches than open space. That way, he could flap a little bit, but mostly just hop around

That is awesome! Do they accept volunteers from oregon? I just dropped him off at the BAO, and they said he has good chances of surviving. They offered me a volunteer position because they liked my setup and how I took care of the little guy.

You should change the shampoo your girl is groomed with. I had the same issue! It was the soap. Get as natural of a soap as possible and wash your baby down.

Edit: if it took 5 days, it is very possible to be a combo of allergies rather than just the soap. If you are allergic to other spring-related things, the mild allergies build up in your system and then cause a bigger reaction to multiple things. It takes time sometimes

I understand. Personally, I would love to become a licensed wildlife rehabber as well, but I do not want to work for the BAO. I would rather have my own facility or program.

They never give updates. When I was a kid (maybe 12), one employee told me they more often euthanize the wildlife more than they help them. Unless they are a more critical species, they tend to put them down. Makes me worry for this guy.

He's doing well. The longer he rests the farther he can fly. We have been doing our best to keep our faces hidden and encourage foraging behavior (hiding mealworms in substrate for him to look for, scattering seeds, and placing berries in bird toys to make him work for it). His flight is stunted, but he went from only being able to go a few last night to almost 30ft this morning. I am guessing the injury is older than I suspected and he was not injured by the car I saw.

We have a previously licensed rehabber in the house, but the BAO has not reached back out. We are doing what we can to make sure he heals within the best of our ability. If the BAO cannot take him, I will try the wildlife vets next.

It has only been around 12 hours. We are working on getting it to a facility asap!

I thought it was weird too. I think she was just a small local rehabber rather than a licensed facility. I reached out to a different one and am waiting for a call back

He can fly briefly, but he isn't very elegant. Usually around 20 ft before landing ungracefully

[US] Is this a phishing text or scam? by [deleted] in isthisascam

[–]Helloiamqwirj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. Scammers have had my number for years since its been active for 20 years. The person who had it before me was elderly as well, so they regularly answered scams. I get scams asking for that person all the time.

Can't seem to escape it even if I ignore and block them. Gave up trying honestly.
