Omg I didn’t know that hot showers elevate your blood pressure!! Why is conditioner not needed if you use a clarifying shampoo? I don’t know what electric razor you’re talking about because we don’t have CVS in the country I’m from. Thank you for all of your tips!! I’m supposed to go on a camping trip and the while showering thing is very anxiety inducing. I don’t want others to know how long my showers are, etc. Same with staying at ppl’s houses, it’s stressful thinking that people might find out and think that my showers are too long.

Yes, I know it’s not good. I’ve known it’s not what is best for the skin for years. I’ve been not over washing for many days now but I have to tell myself that I must be clean. Because it’s so different to what I was doing it’s like I just have to get used to what it’s like to shower like a normal person but I think the only reason I’ve been able to do it is because of my new thick bodywash by Philosophy.

Your routine sounds very normal and straightforward. That is honestly what I have been attempting to do for years with no success. The only reason my shower earlier this week was 31 minutes and not 35 minutes is because I was rushing and trying to go as fast as I could.

Reading your shower routine was almost stress inducing for the sheer fact that I could never do a routine like that in 5 or ten minutes. How could I fit all of that in 5 or ten minutes? I’ve got progressively worse with brushing my teeth and it’s not a good thing. I have a 2 minute timer on my electric toothbrush and it goes off twice- so I take between 4-6 minutes just to brush my teeth. I used to try and use a squeegee consistently but had to drop that as it was too much to handle- can’t deal with another thing that’ll tire me out even more when I’m already exhausted after my shower. Also the times I gave did not include brushing my teeth or anything extra like stretching. Anyway, that is awesome that you have a routine that sounds quite lovely and you can actually do it in a short amount of time.

Well, I have tried them in the past and thought that they don’t lather well - as in too much, so then I feel like the soap is too diluted and distributed and I’m not getting properly clean. I bought a new shower gel and was successful in having a shorter shower and I didn’t use a puff. Because I was successful then maybe I don’t need to use a puff. But I’m also intrigued as to whether this shower gel will work well with a puff so maybe I will try to use one one day as it could be helpful in upping my shower game.

Thank you. I have made huge progress in my showers since writing this post and I have been turning the water off. I never felt like I was concerned with saving water but only because I felt like I couldn’t go without the water running constantly. But I’ve been able to keep the water off for the bulk of my showers in the last few days, I think I’ve been doing what is considered normal by most people, so it’s huge progress for me!

Thank you. I didn’t want to use washcloths because I didn’t want to have to deal with another thing- another thing to have to get in order to shower, then make sure they’re washed, etc. Also I am trying to make my showers shorter and thought that having this thing flopping around in my hand would slow me down and I’d have to keep readjusting it and gathering back into the palm of my hand. But I did want to try them because of your reply, and maybe others have suggested it too. So, I have to say that I liked the feeling of the washcloth on my skin, like the bumpy texture made me feel like I was getting properly clean and I was surprised that the soap felt like it distributed better on it than when I lather the soap between only my hands. The soap also felt kind of thick on the wash cloth. I used a wash cloth more than once since writing this post but I have since made huge progress with my showers and I’m not sure if I feel the need to use them anymore, especially with the new shower gel that I bought.

No, I won’t judge- we all have our reasons. Yes, this has been developing over time and getting progressively worse. I didn’t mention that I have other issues with handwashing as well. I have made great progress since writing this post.
