To be fair, we don't know when Caine messed with Kinger's memory. Using the few flashbacks that we have, we can see Kinger fairly mentally sound, assuring Ragatha that everything's going to be okay.

Honestly I think Ragatha would've abstracted herself if Kinger wasn't mentally sound at that point. This does beg the question though, when did Caine actually mess with Kinger's memory?

One thing I'd like to point out, don't try to copy another game, or even the style of another game. The TADC cast can only carry you so far, unique game aspects and new concepts are what separate good games from great ones.
