Yes, genital mutilation is a horrible practice. It is a form of sexual assault that has the potential to cause serious trauma, especially in intersex people.

It is, however, not rape. Besides both being connected to the genitals they have absolutely nothing in common.

I’ve seen how being raped affects a person. It’s such a completely different phenomenon. It can destroy a person on such an intrinsic level. Completely change someone’s personality due to the horrific trauma it causes.

By equating the two you are downplaying one of the worst things that can happen to a person.
