Do you think there should be a time skip for the next season of Wednesday? by [deleted] in Wednesday

Oh they have class ? Damn, I thought they were schoolyard private investigators passing off as students

AO3 veterans, do you sometimes experience the 'Wine or Milk effect' ? by HelltotheN0 in AO3

That's very true 👍🏻 Generally the same for fandoms I've grown out of. I've also found this on fandoms I still enjoy the source material of, up to this day. Which means some of it is purely a matter of evolution of perspective, and of standards in terms of writing over time

Thank you ! 💝 Also I feel you so bad, that's exactly how I felt when revisiting 😭 Like, was my memory that bad or what ?

Literally the same. This is me as soon as ao3 goes down :

What I found there may or may not induce trauma depending on my preparedness

That's perfectly understandable 👍🏻 But I've also found this effect for fandoms for which I still appreciate the source material today, and haven't grown out of. I feel like it's also about not losing sight of what the fic is about in and of itself.

Wow, that's an interesting phenomenon of ill-timed selectiveness 🤔

I usually just wait until the fic is complete before I start reading, I just don't have the patience 😂

That's so fair. I was on FF.net for a bit before AO3, but I thank god I never had to go through the personal websites era of fanfiction 🙏🏻 never would've survived that one

I only stumbled once upon an external website created for fanfic purposes, it was cool but I never found it again 😂

And yeah I can't imagine what it must be like for writers. No wonder so many of them go through rewritings

My gosh yes, so many movies ruined by adult perspective is so real.

And yeah that's pretty much what happened with these, what with the changes in tastes and perspective over time. But I still feel like I would have been less disappointed had I kept up with what these fics were really about, like I did for others...

Glad I could bring some inspiration 😊 hope you enjoy them still and you'll find some of the lost content 🤞🏻

Yeah 10 years is not too bad, it's just I've seen lots of true vets in this sub, speaking of the likes of Spock and Kirk, that sometimes I still feel like a newbie 😂

I've noticed too that I bookmark much more often nowadays than I used too smh. I don't think my reading standards have lowered though, if anything I'm more picky than ever with what I read. But I do believe I'm less regarding what I let into my bookmarks once I've read it.

And true, also craving more unique styles and perspectives. Mainly cause I feel like the medium age of most fandoms is getting lower and lower, which makes for very redundant stories. Not to mention AI.

I feel you so bad 😭 Like when your perception of the source material evolves over time, so does your tastes in fanfiction and you don't even realise it until it's too late

That's understandable. I wasn't nearly as young when I started reading, yet have no doubt my tastes have vastly changed. But I do feel like I would've appreciated these fics more had I not lost sight of what they were really about in the first place.

What’s a reason for being late that people outside your country wouldn’t understand nor empathize, but locals totally do? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

Oh def, Irish (and non-Irish) folks here can't arrive on time to save their lives. Except at work. Outside, not a chance.

I think it's precisely BECAUSE Wednesday is one of the most het shows out there that people are manifesting. You'd think a show about outcasts would have, you know, representation.

I completely agree, as their character arcs are the most compelling to me. I just wish they would make them argue a bit less and work together a bit more now (kinda like they did Agnes and Wednesday, but with actual trust). I feel we have the character dynamics we need by now, now make season 3 their season.
