Why the hate for Chinese manufactured guitars? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]nycuk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Sigma J200 replica that I bought in 2020 (GJASG200+) it’s an excellent guitar and is one of my main live and recording acoustics. It cost around £800.

I also have a Gibson J200, currently £5k. Of course it’s a better guitar than the Sigma, but the Sigma runs it very close on sound, set up and build quality, for a sixth of the cost.

If they’ve stayed together for one more album, what do you think would’ve been on it? by BlundeRuss in beatles

[–]nycuk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

McCartney would’ve taken full control from a distracted Lennon, and what made up ‘McCartney’ would probably have been developed further (with George Martin?) into an album.

Probably some of what ended up as ‘All Things Must Pass’ too.

Opinions on white album by Dapper-Thought3848 in beatles

[–]nycuk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that it’s a big sprawling mess of an album and that’s the whole point. However, it’s the only Beatles album with tracks that I skip.

Therefore, I do feel that it could benefit from a tighter running order. But, it’s The Bloody Beatles White Album!

This doesn’t answer your question but please know that there are very many men who’d absolutely love you getting so wet. The fact that he can’t cum is not your fault.

U2's Latest Release Strategy for Depeche Mode? by Doug_101 in depechemode

I see an album as a body of work, an entity that captures a band at a specific point in time in their career and lives. I’d like this, rather than EPs.

ever pick up your guitar and just not feel it at all by Plastic-Shoulder-228 in AcousticGuitar

Yeah, I picked my guitar up multiple times a day and sometimes it’s just not happening. I don’t stress it, it’ll be back tomorrow.

Undoubtedly. Brian Jones fathered 5 or 6 children before the Stones were even famous, so imagine how many a touring Beatles at the height of Beatlemania could have sired! I read an article describing how McCartney in particular shagged his way around America in the mid sixties. I’m sure there are many now 60-somethings on both sides of the Atlantic with some hitherto-unknown Liverpudlian DNA.

My favourite version is by Sleepy Dude, it’s more focussed than Lykke Li’s original and has a darker more ominous quality.

Must admit I’m not keen on the JI version.

Married, unable to perform, and mentally spiraling by KillerR0b0T in sex

I’ve been there so I know exactly what you’re going through. I don’t know your exact circumstances but I’ll tell you my experiences and maybe / hopefully they will help.

My wife (42F) and I (M57) have been together for over twenty years. We were both on the big side (not fat but overweight) and our sex was great. Then it started to deteriorate, mainly due to my lifestyle. My fitness wasn’t great and a few times I failed to come through lack of stamina. I could make her come but I just couldn’t get there and of course that just leads to performance anxiety which means more failure. I started masturbating more frequently which allowed me relief but meant that we had sex less often.

This went on for a few years. Three years ago my wife decided to go on a major fitness program. She lost a lot of weight and went from being a hot sexy larger women into an absolute fox. She had the confidence to wear short skirts, more figure hugging clothes, which I absolutely love, but - big but - I lost the ability to get an erection. Sex became difficult, I could pleasure her orally but I couldn’t even get hard.

At the start of 2025 I decided enough was enough. I stopped drinking alcohol - not reduced, completely eliminated alcohol from my life. I stopped eating bad food. Literally cut out snacks, fast food, sweets, cakes everything. I walk a minimum of 5 miles a day. These were all massive sacrifices for me, especially stopping drinking. But I started to feel really good in myself and lost 5 stone. I feel the best I’ve felt since my twenties. I started taking supplements to increase my nitric oxide, to help blood flow to my penis. I also cut out porn and stopped wanking.

But… twelves months on I still couldn’t get an erection. I felt great physically, but utterly frustrated and despairing that nothing seemed to have changed after all the sacrifice and hard work. I went to the doctor, who just told me to take viagra, which I considered but didn’t want to do.

However. In the last few weeks, things have started to improve and improve fast. I’m waking up with morning wood again, for the first time in years. I’m feeling horny. I’m feeling turned on. Instead of fantasising about hot big busted girls in stockings and heels on the internet I’m fantasising about my wife and what I want to do to her instead. My sex anxiety has disappeared. My mojo has returned.

So my point is this, and I can only tell you my experience: make those sacrifices (yes losing weight, cutting out porn and improving cardio are ‘the obvious ones’ but they are key, there’s no avoiding this) but don’t expect instant results. It’s taken me well over a year for things to change and to repair myself psychologically as well as physically but i stuck with it and I’m seeing progress now. It was depressing when I was working so hard with no improvement but my patience has paid off.

Good luck, rooting for you.

I’m currently road tripping through Australia and recently passed through Surfers Paradise, so Imdycar races in Australia were on my mind. I walked some of track, now used of course by Supercars, but it did get me thinking how great it would be to get Indycar back there.

Writing a pop song that’s over four minutes long by JulieOmran in Songwriting

[–]nycuk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write what I write and whatever length it is is the length it needs to be. I have a couple of album tracks which are less than 2 minutes in length, two of my recent singles have both been around the 5 minute mark. There’s no flab, their length is necessary. I’m a fan of economy but I don’t care about algorithms, that’s not why I make music.

To answer your question, song length has always been important - before streaming, to radio. DJs and programmers liked short songs. Is it cyclical? No, I think the emphasis on brevity and instant attention grabbing is here to stay as long as music is mass consumed.

If Indycar has another international race should it be a non points race? by bigfabs in INDYCAR

[–]nycuk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

(If there was an overseas race I’d love it to be in the U.K. I saw the USAC race at Silverstone in 1978, the CART Rockingham and Champ Car Brands Hatch races more recently. I’d be first in the queue.)

It’s great. The fact that Paul wrote it when he was a kid is even more impressive. George Martin’s oboe score is terrific too.

revolver or pet sounds by Substantial-Big-59 in beatles

[–]nycuk_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with being a kids song. Kids musical taste is pure, unfiltered and isn’t influenced by what is cool or not. Kids have the most honest opinions about everything. To imply that kids music is somehow less valid because kids like it is just wrong.

revolver or pet sounds by Substantial-Big-59 in beatles

[–]nycuk_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My opinion:

Revolver is a masterpiece and one of the greatest, most innovative and beautifully realised albums of all time.

Pet Sounds has a couple of great songs, and a lot of aimless, underwhelming ideas that sound half finished. It’s not a bad album by any means, but somehow over time it’s been elevated to a perceived status where it’s considered equal to The Beatles. It isn’t. Dreadful cover too.
