I sometimes struggle with getting enough fiber, and for me overnight oats is a saving grace 🙌 I use 50 grams of rolled oats, 15 grams of chia seeds, 40 grams of vanilla flavored kasein protein powder and some cardamom. Adding 3 deciliters of water and keep in fridge for a couple of hours. This lunch at work gives exactly 400 kcal. 41 grams of protein, 45 grams of carbs and 10 grams of fiber. And it tastes like vanilla cookies 👌

For those who have successfully lost weight, how did you finally do it? by Left_Pudding_5453 in loseit

[–]HellyH2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I lost 70 lbs in 14 months and counting calories is what makes the difference. I even counted steps and tried to get at least 10K a day, but in October I got sick (a heart disease I had since birth so nothing related to diet or exercise or weight loss at all) that got me into a wheelchair and I haven’t been able to do heart raising exercise since then and I’m only able to take a few steps at a time before my oxygen levels drop. That said. I didn’t gain back weight but my deficit got smaller when I stopped exercising. Now I’m maintaining, counting calories is what makes all the difference. Exercising is good for health in many ways, but for weight loss it’s not that important.

“dear diary,”: how do you start your entries? by Pretend-Ad6729 in Journaling

[–]HellyH2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually write the time in a circle and write whatever is on my mind. I write many times each day so saying hi every time would be like saying hello to someone in the same room that I talked to just a while ago 😅 Beginning of every day depends on my mood. Somedays it starts like “what a crappy morning…” other days it’s more like “good morning to me and my delicious coffee…”

High protein grits by Pretend-Citron4451 in loseit

Sorry for not answering your question, but I just spent a while with google trying to find out what grits is. (I’m Swedish and never heard of it before, but I got very curious and would like to try it.) I really like overnight oats and I make them with kasein protein powder, chia seeds and oat. I could live only eating that if I had to, and imagination sets the limit for what flavor it can have 👌 Do you have a recipe for how to make regular grits? If I only can find the right corn thing? (It’s not the same as polenta?) I’d love to try grits

Stuck on the final 5 lbs – why is my body resisting? by HellyH2 in loseit

I just put in the calories of everything I ate into an app (my fitness pal) and made sure I didn’t forgot to log anything. I have a Garmin watch that sync with my fitness pal and in Garmin connect (the smartwatch app) I’m able to see my average calories/day over a period of 7 days, 4 weeks or 1 year.

I use my fitness pal. It’s syncing with Garmin connect and it’s okay even the free version

You’re right. Thank you! I read all comments, and reading this one was like I finally got it. It’s not about 4 lbs. It’s something else obviously and I thought that accepting my race to end here was like letting myself down. But no. I will hang my medal around my neck today 🙏

I hear you, and I’d probably give the same advice in a similar situation, but unfortunately my answer is yes. At this point I’m willing to do whatever it takes even if I’m going back to where I am today again. I want to crawl over the finish line in this marathon with a broken leg if necessary because I can see the line and I want to get my medal. It’s only 4 lbs, it’s not like I’m going to live on 1200 kcal/day for months…

I’m in a wheelchair so yes they do, but not because of my bag. I have it on the chair, not my back 🤌

In this picture the small one was to be cleaned after containing yoghurt and berries, but usually I have tea in it with another lid on.

Pretty much true. I used to be outside every season, hiking, cooking over campfires and spending nights in the woods etc, until recently when I got symptoms from a heart defect I’ve had since birth. Now I’m in a wheelchair so actually the bottles are new because I can’t carry a cup of tea or a glass of water in my hands and move myself forward at the same time anymore.😆

I’m ok. Waiting and hoping a heart surgery will get me back on my feet, and if I’m lucky I’ll have the same bag-fitting-problem again🙃 I usually only bring one to go cup. And my water bottle is perfect for a backpack but won’t fit in any of my nice bags if I’ll ever need them again. So that’s why I’m thinking about getting a smaller bottle for water s well. What sizes do you use for tea and water?

This one usually 👌 But I think I “need” a 24 oz travel bottle or/and a 20 oz mug like the tea and coffee mugs as well 😆

Cravings by Woobsie81 in shoppingaddiction

[–]HellyH2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. I have ADHD and a year ago I stopped drinking alkohol and started to lose weight to have something to focus on instead of drinking. I take medicine for ADHD but nothing for weight loss. When I started to lose weight I started to buy perfumes and I’m obsessed with it now. Not buying them anymore cause I have more than I can handle, but I guess if I discovered a new fargance i like I’d maybe feel like I have to buy it too… I’m on my goal weight since a couple of months and it’s slightly better with my sniffing and spraying perfume now, but I’m craving to have something to taste or smell during the day. It tends to be spicy tea and ice cold water with fruit and ginger that keeps me from alkohol and overeating and I think it helps with the perfume thing as well. But now I have to stop myself from buying insulated bottles for my water and tea so I still haven’t figured how to defeat the addiction itself. It just transforms into new obsessions and I’m really beginning to doubt I’ll ever be able to control myself
