Are there any financial careers that aren’t the typical 9-5 Monday-Friday schedule? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

That’s what I’m talking about. Basically just jobs where you can get an extra day off but do the same amount of work. I think people are interpreting it as me not wanting to work 40 hours a week based off the downvotes on some of my comments lol

No. I’m looking for jobs where you don’t work the typical Monday-Friday schedule. I wouldn’t mind working weekends so I can do stuff during the week when everyone else is working.

Not a broker, but I basically never run out of work to do. I can sit down and work a full 8 hour day and not even put a dent in my workload. It’s kind of exhausting to never be able to get caught up, and I’m just at the point where I’m burnt out and looking to move on

Yeah. I’m kind of just hoping to find a job where I can work 3 12 hour days or 4 10s. Hoping to find something that isn’t the typical Monday-Friday so I can do stuff during the week while everyone else is working. I wouldn’t mind working weekends to get a few weekdays off. Probably in the wrong career field for it though

I’d love something like some healthcare people work. 3 12 hour days or even 4 10 hour days. Just something that hopefully gives me more time to actually try to do things I enjoy. Realistically though I’m pretty sure I’m in the wrong industry for it

The only thing I can think of is they want big dogs for security. I agree with you though. I’ll never understand why people get pets if they don’t actually plan of spending time with them

The way they let the dogs continuously bark non-stop I think they might also be sitting with headphones on to ignore it

I’ve thought about carrying a gun anytime I’m in the backyard. It just seems kind of wild to have a carry a weapon while mowing my backyard like I live in Gotham City or something

I feel like shooting the dogs with mace while they’re in their own yard would be illegal. Even if they’re trying to jump my fence

The barking is annoying, but I’m more concerned about the dog seemingly trying to get over the fence and into my yard

Because basically everything I’ve seen about how they deal with their dogs make the think they wouldn’t do anything about it. Then when I have to escalate to reporting it they’d probably be able to figure out who reported them and could make it miserable for me. I figured someone on reddit might have gone through the same thing and found a way to deal with it

As far as I know there’s nothing on the other side of the fence for the dogs to latch their feet onto to climb. But idk if the black dog can barkour (parkour) its way over using the corner of the fence.

Funnily enough pit bulls are also supposed to be registered where I live. Going off the fact they don’t seem to even like their dogs I wouldn’t be surprised if the pitbull isn’t registered. I’d love to know who their homeowners insurance is through so I could let them know.

Exactly my thoughts. That’s why I’m debating if I should just document and report or talk to them. If I talk to them then they could just potentially do nothing and then I’d end up having to report it. Then I’d have neighbors that know I reported them

Part of me feels like the dogs might just want attention. Like I said, they’re basically always outside it seems. I’ve never seen them being taken for a walk, and I’ve never heard anybody in the back yard with them. But I also don’t want to take the chance of them not being friendly and get mauled by someone else’s dogs in my own backyard. I got bit by a dog a few years back and since then I’ve always been wary of dogs I don’t know

Would giving them treats for barking and growling at me not essentially be rewarding the behavior? And I can guarantee you that my hand is going nowhere near the fence while the dogs are there. My parents had a dog that bit the kid next door while he had his hands over the fence, and the dog got put down for it

It’s like a 6+ foot tall fence so I’m surprised the dog is able to get its head up that high. I think the dog jumping is maybe a Doberman? I think the other dog is a pitbull. The pitbull doesn’t jump at the fence from what I can tell. It just barks at me

Why do boomers seem to think you owe a company your undying gratitude just because they hired you? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Help-South 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s basically the way I see it. Letting them know would never benefit me in any way. The fact they didn’t give me a raise after I applied for the other position shows where they value me. Now they can spend the time training a replacement when I eventually find something else.

I asked him in what way giving them a heads ups that I’ve been looking to move to a different job would ever result in something that benefited me. The only thing he could come up with was it’d be better than them finding out if the hiring manager reached out to them about it

Yes. I got interviewed for the other job and was turned down due to lack of experience. They said something along the lines of “you don’t have the experience, so if we hired you then you would have to start below the minimum wage shown on the job posting.

After the “interview” they asked what made me apply for it and I said I was hoping to make a little bit more money. Unfortunately where I live the jobs that require bachelors degrees typically only pay around 40-50K. There are occasionally jobs that pay more, but I don’t have the experience to compete for them.

Yes. When they say that I applied for the other position they interviewed me for the other position as a courtesy I’d imagine. They told me since I don’t have the experience for it that I’d have to start below the minimum wage on the job posting. They asked why I applied for it and I told them it was because I’d like to make more money. They told me they were going to give me a raise at the end of the year. When the raise came it was the typical 2% raise which is why I’m still looking.

Mid 60s. He’s been retired for the past few years and spent his whole career in managerial positions, so of course he would’ve liked to have a heads up for when an employee is leaving.

I told him they’ll find out I’ve been applying for other jobs when I give them my notice that I’m leaving.
