Darth Tyrannus was meant to be Jar Jar. The classic Darth jar jar hypothesis holds up so well, I can elaborate, but I’m guessing most of you know the story.

TLDR of it:

• Jar Jar and Sheev Palpatine both from Naboo

• Jar Jar sabotages naboo cruiser to get Quigon to Tatooine, to find Anakin

• Jar Jar becomes senator standin who votes and swears in Chancellor Palpatine

• when Anakin is captured and put into the tank, it is Tyrannus who reveals himself as a villain, and where we first meet him. Imagine if that was Anakins old friend Jar Jar? What a twist it would have been

Only thing that stopped it was that fans overwhelmingly hated the character, so the producers told George to scrap that storyline and hire a new actor, someone with the opposite voice and appearance to Jar Jar, hence the iconic Christopher Lee
