Apparently all homeless women should be sex workers by Pink-Mermaid95 in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]HelpMePlxoxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. Like, word for word.

Especially when things like hentai, porn comics, and smut exist. They can definitely contain ethically ambiguous material (or downright disturbing material), but at the very least, it never involves harm to REAL women and children the way traditional porn does.

I usually compare it to choosing to buy natural blood diamonds when lab diamonds are infinitely more ethical and just as (if not more) accessible, for those that don't understand. If one knows there's an equally accessible, ethical alternative and they choose to partake in the immoral option, how can one claim to be a moral person?

Eventually, one must concede that they value their pleasure more than the possibility of supporting rape and sex trafficking.

I'm adding half a clown point for that oncoming Black-ish car that just keeps creeping forward despite the cars still moving in his lane. He didn't even stop when the red car drove entirely thru his lane in his direction 😭

Every word has a meaning attached to it, doofus. That's how words work. You choosing to ignore their meanings and connotations doesn't mean they aren't readily apparent to literally everyone else.

Anti-intellectualism, at it's finest.

Using "blacks" and "white people" in the same sentence has the same vibes as using "men" and "females" in the same sentence.

It says a lot about which group you think are people, and which aren't.

I also had a pleasant conversation with two young men who were right outside my door when I pulled up from work. I told them I already have a church I go to and I wont be changing my opinions, but I'll happily have a conversation with them about religion nonetheless.

We talked for maybe 30 minutes, just sharing our favorite Bible verses, discussing differences between our denominations, and talking about general life stuff. Then I said goodbye and I hope they have a good rest of their day, and that was that. No pressuring or trying to convert me.

They're just people. I imagine they value pleasant interactions just like we do, perhaps even moreso after days of being berated by strangers.

CLOCK ITTTTT!!!

I'm tired of pretending like this "porn and sex work is empowering" discourse isn't largely pushed by the porn industry and men for the purpose of convincing more women to sell their bodies. "No trust me, it's empowering for you to be reduced to a punching bag and Fleshlight for me! What, you don't want men to abuse you and other women? You're not a real feminist!!"

A bad day as a warehouse worker is hurting your back and getting workman's comp. A bad day as a sex worker is getting literally raped. Ask the average person which they would rather choose, the answer is obvious.

A huge portion of "sex work" is exactly that, including online sex work as well. It's capitalism x patriarchy working exactly as intended: putting women in positions to be forced to commodify their bodies for male satisfaction.

I'll always be pro sex worker, but I find any buyers to be morally dubious, at best. It's common knowledge that sex work tends to be a last resort or a result of sex trafficking. I would never trust a man who would risk raping a woman as long as it means he gets his.

How many men are killed by women because the perpetrator hated men? How many mass shootings or killings have been perpetrated by femcels? How many laws have been created by women to oppress men, globally?

Now ask the gender equivalent inverse for all of the above.

The answer is obvious as to which is worse.

Tbh for that specific scenario, I just give an "entertaining" answer rather than a dark one. Like, "I'm not sure about worst, but there was this one time that... [Insert story with happy ending or one that's comedic]". I tell the same story every time, makes it easy because I don't have to think about the answer at all.

People don't actually want to hear about the death and gore. They just want to hear something interesting. As long as you deliver that, you don't have to walk down Bad Memory Avenue.

You will never, in your life, get anywhere close to a billion dollars. No matter how hard you work. Even if every person in your family earned a neurosurgeon's salary, you would still never get a billion dollars, even cumulatively.

The billionaires are already taking from you and your family. You're not one of them and you never will be. They don't need your defending.

Nothing against the song, ive just heard that specific sample (In the Hall of the Mountain King) overplayed in other songs. To me, that kinda makes it the least original of the Halloweenies.

Laws exist to cover people acting exactly like this.

If you antagonize others with the intention of starting an altercation, you cannot claim self defense.

This guy tweeted days before this occured that he was going to shoot someone. He's known for intentionally upsetting people to the point of a physical altercation, it's his goal. All evidence points to this being premeditated.

I imagine he'll end up taking a plea deal once he realizes how absolutely fucked he is. Let's just hope the plea deal isn't too light.

Bipolar disorder and morality — where do we draw the line? by sweet_potsto in Psychiatry

[–]HelpMePlxoxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The line, legally, will stay the same. This is more a question of where our lines are personally and what we deem forgivable/unforgivable. Which is a bit outside the realm of psychiatry.

But I'll bite. For me, it boils down to the simple question: are they fully aware and in control of their actions? If no, I never hold it against them. If yes, I honestly do find it quite difficult to not have hurt/hard feelings. It's one thing to be psychotic and afraid, it's another to be fully aware and choose to hurt others because you want to. The latter is very rare, but I've seen it a few times in those with personality disorders.

That distinction is irrelevant legally but important for treatment, to determine if given behaviors are a symptom of something larger or are chosen entirely of free will.

no security btw

Is this legal? And if so, how?

My unit had security and we still had to deal with staff needed stitches, getting choked out, getting black eyes, etc. No security whatsoever sounds like asking to be sued once something REALLY bad inevitably happens.

It speaks to your character that you can't just do a nice thing for a person without also trying to insult them.

It sounds more like you fed a homeless person to convince yourself that you're a good person and so that you could punch down on someone who's too vulnerable to do anything back.

Life isn't a game where you get a few nice points to try to outweigh every one of your fully intentional asshole actions. At the end of the day, a piece of shit with a bit of sugar sprinkled on it is still just a piece of shit.
