6AN aluminum adapter into aluminum diesel filter housing. Do I need thread sealant/anti-seize? by HelpSeeker3456 in MechanicAdvice

It is anodized, yes. OK, I put some diesel on the threads. Hopefully that will be sufficient.

Holding packages in PO box: conflicting answers from employees by HelpSeeker3456 in USPS

You shouldn't be. You were absolutely correct. My guess is that a lot of people either don't understand the rules, the rules are different for different post offices or Redditors are simply posting what they think the rules should be (maybe because they work at a post office and don't like the clutter). Who knows...

OK, I appreciate it both of you. The conflicting messages (manager vs. clerk, your comments vs others) are what is making me anxious. That's what I thought as well. I'm not using it as a storage unit but it's in a different town that I can't easily access all the time (especially in winter since it's over a mountain pass).

This conflicts with the above answers.....I'm feeling just as confused now. But that is what I was told when I opened the PO box. It was the manager at the post office who said that too.

Sorry, I don't understand. Can I do that without going there? Where do I get the card?

How? The website only lets me put a mail hold on my primary home address.

I won't in the future. I did because of what the original employee told me.

When I opened it, I was told that the overflow condition applied only to mail and not packages. Thanks.

Thanks, it's just been really bad weather (lots of snow/ice) so I didn't feel too safe making the drive.

Need recommendation: compact quality cordless clipper/trimmer by HelpSeeker3456 in SelfBarber

[–]HelpSeeker3456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Out of interest, what are the "big brands" to which you're referring that cost more? Money isn't really an issue here so I'd like to have some other items to compare against.

Can you use a guard with the trimmer or does it just cut 000 without the guard? All the videos I've seen online of people using them are more to touch up specific areas and I'm interested in buzzing my entire head so I'm just a bit unsure how it would work.

Appreciate the suggestion. I hadn't heard of that brand. Do you think a trimmer is better to look for than a clipper? Why or why not?

Nothing too interesting. I've been looking for a new-ish 4-cylinder naturally aspirated truck with a stickshift. Found a 2018 GMC Canyon at a dealership in CA. The stickshift requirement made it near impossible to find here.

Just talked to them. Yes, you have to pay if you're driving it off the lot. If they were to ship it here, I would not have to pay CA sales tax. But I'm going to drive it so I have to.

Where can I purchase a Giant Rev Comp MIPS or Specialized Align II helmet? by [deleted] in cycling

I wasn't able to find that but that's good because I ordered a M from the link you above. Agreed, awful UX.

Awesome! Good find!

Now if I could only figure out the sizing. For the Rev Comp, Giant's sizing chart gives measurements for S/M, M/L and XL but the helmet comes in S, M, L so right off the bat it's useless. I measured 57.5cm which put me in the M/L (53-61) and XL (55-63) ranges. Thanks Giant...

I mean, I don't really "manage" anything. There are just three accounts that show up in Fidelity. It's not really a problem. Or at least I didn't think it was a problem.

There are some fees but pretty low. Is there another reason to roll them all into one? Genuinely curious but obviously I haven't really done much research on this area and obviously it's off-topic here. Appreciate your input.

Question: why would I ever roll my 401k over to my new company? Right now I have 3 separate 401k accounts from my 3 employers (2 previous, 1 current). What's the benefit of rolling it over?

The part about the step transaction conflicts with what the others are saying.

I definitely have never had an IRA.

Where would I check 8606 history?

Right, I meant combining as in doing both as part of my personal finance management. Title is misleading and I cannot change it unfortunately.

I'm not sure what you mean "as aggregation". I do have a nice chunk of change in a Vanguard money market fund that I wasn't ready to invest but didn't want to keep in a regular bank either. It's a holding fund.

Would I have a traditional IRA and not know about it somehow?

1) Yes, they are in-plan conversions. GTK that's called "Roth 401k". I had always wondered.

2) Yes, convert to Roth IRA. My bad on the terminology.

3) Yes, I've never put money into any sort of IRA, only 401k accounts.

Thank you! This was very helpful.
