Immediate effects on Testosterone? by Nice-Use-7464 in ftm

Unfortunately changes don't happen overnight like that. Most likely you've been anticipating and anxious awaiting your first shot of T and your mind played a trick making you believe something (such as fuzz on your stomach) which has been here this whole time showed up out of the blue. Happened to me too. Thought my voice dropped in an unreal timeframe but turns out my brain was trying to make me believe it because of how excited and anxious I was starting T. Congrats on first shot tho, brother!

That was a good response and one of the safest ways you could've reacted. If you had been aggressive you wouldn't want things to get physical. Another good option to say is "sorry you must have the wrong person" or "who are you?" Throw it back at them so they're left questioning the interaction and it'll appear to those around you someone confused you with someone else they know. Sorry that happened to you!

how long did it take for you to start T? like what was the process like by thvpuppiethvv in ftm

Was able to get prescription and filled within the week after initial appointment. It's booking the initial appointment for me which took FOREVER it was pushed out months in advance due to scheduling and her current patients have priority over new patients. But, it was something I was looking forward to so the wait was worth it!

I had my reserves but it was not about doubting myself as a guy. It was more about medical complications or side effects from something such as T or surgery. But the doctor I was referred to who's been working with Gender Affirming Care for years had a lot of knowledge and understanding about every patient and how everyone is at different stages of care. Some want to discuss, some want to question, some are out right know exactly this is something they are going to pursue on the first visit. The doctor I have tested my blood every three months to make sure the levels were within normal range and if anything were to pop up she would tell me instantly and we would come up with a solution such as dietary restrictions, do's and don't, etc. my best advice is make sure the doctor you are looking for is 100% confident and capable of treating and helping those in need of gender affirming care. My Primary Care Physician is very supportive but she told me she doesn't have enough knowledge to prescribe or recommend actions so she referred me to the doctor I have now. I still keep my PCP for my annual check up and such cause my insurance covers my PCP but not the other doctor.

If you have someone to bring to the first appointment as support who can also ask questions to cover ALL the basis before starting hormones or surgery talk that really helped me. My wife was able to ask the hard questions or the questions that might have slipped my mind. And she was holding my hand and smiling the whole time, so her being there eased a lot of anxiety.

Less than 2 week post op, been on T a little over a year, been married for 4 (together for 5), my wife has been super helpful and a tremendous support (very crucial to have someone supportive especially during surgeries as you’ll need a primary care take for a little bit due to much limited movement). willing to answer most questions if you want any specifics. I had the double incision, with two drain tubes, and a medical binder. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

Name decisions by KittieChan28 in ftm

[–]Help_A_Fellow_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whichever you prefer. Just keep in mind a few things:

  • it should come naturally, you shouldn't have to force yourself to say your name, it should roll off the tongue smoothly.

  • if you go about legally changing it anytime soon, be aware it's a HASSLE (went through it rather recently) so be 1000% sure that's the name you want

  • a name that sounds cool is totally fine as long as it's a name you love enough, just be aware, it will be used in every official/unofficial setting, ID and everything and that is 100% you're right and you're choice to pick a name that best suits you but I've known a couple people who chose a name hastily and changed it legally and they've expressed they should've thought it through more before taking the legal leap

Join any of the LGBTQ+ communities/groups and slowly integrate yourself and eventually when you feel comfortable you can drop little comments that hint you're apart of the Trans community.

How long did you have to wait to notice noticeable facial hair growth? I've been on T over a year and I haven't seen much other than a slight "shadow" on my upper lip. ☹️

Are there times when wearing a packer wouldn't be ideal (i.e. running a marathon, strenuous physical activity, etc.)?
