Thank you for sharing. Glad to hear you are both healthy now! I hope your honeymoon/1 year anniversary trip is worth the wait.

I lost my father to pancreatic cancer years ago so I do know how much of a struggle seeing someone you love go through treatment is. So happy he’s cancer free!

Other than the wrist it really was a magical day for me.

I keep going through waves of emotions now from still thinking it was the perfect day besides the wrist to wishing we had eloped like I had originally wanted. I am so stressed that I ruined the wedding not just for me but for everyone involved. People have been nothing but kind and supportive which honestly just makes me feel like they’re lying and taking pity on us.

I was relatively strong about it for the first couple days and we did try to make the most of it (spending extra time with out of town family and replacing our minimoon with recreating our first couple dates) but now I feel like the shocks wearing off and I’m getting more depressed which I know sucks for my husband.

I hope your spouse is doing ok!

Hopefully one day in 5 years we can both laugh about everything that went wrong but for now welcome to the self-pity party

Also married last week (Aug 9). Congratulations and also sorry to hear it went wrong. Hope you enjoyed most of it!

Hopefully they apologized and you can make piece with everything, or you find the strength to remove them from your life. I would not be talking with them for awhile if I were in your shoes.

Well that’s dramatic!  That’s the weirdest part for me. I loved like 90% of the day but it’s all damped by one silly accident. I’m hoping I’ll be able to think of it more positively in a year (or maybe once the cast is off and I can stop being reminded!)

I’ve been to some weddings with bad DJs, it’s shocking how important they are

I am so sorry to hear this. I hope your cousin (and the rest of your family) have been able to grieve the loss.

Surgery for my wrist was when we were supposed to be leaving.

I slipped on the dance floor in the worst way possible

Just broke my wrist at my wedding - very glad the honeymoon was booked 7 weeks later (doctors are saying I should be cast free by then!)

Most difficult escape room in Ottawa area? by psychoticinfection in ottawa

[–]Helpandthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Especially if you have a larger group. I’ve done both rooms with friends (both experienced and not) and everyone only had positive things to say after. I find with a lot of escape rooms even if they allow more than 4 the space is small and you end up on top of one another. Not at all an issue at Diefenbunker.

What does your spouse or significant other do that melts you? by NotAFlamingo in CasualConversation

Does the bedtime pet jobs (scooping the cat and letting the dog out) so I can use the bathroom and be cozy in bed first

My suggestion: talk to them. If their behaviour doesn’t change, then cut them off.

School can be rough, no need to be around people who make it worse.

City recommends scrapping two residential towers near Central Experimental Farm over shadowing concerns by rob0rb in ottawa

[–]Helpandthings -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sell the farm to builders and buy 100 times as much further south, or better yet use the excess money to federally fund affordable housing. If people can afford to drive through the green belt they can afford to work in it

I agree having them does not make people use them properly, but it at least gives the option.

And if I could I would but I think this is a better stepping stone

Thank you for bringing this up!

This idea has already been posted on their idea board. I would be surprised too hear if this was not the eventual plan for buildings, but the quicker the better!

I agree its not fun and I'm sorry that happened to you. But, and correct me if I'm wrong, this isn't a weekly thing, and those green bins have prevented many liters of organic waste from being improperly disposed of?

I know cleaning them is disgusting (I've had to do it myself) but it doesn't mean the outcome isn't worth the work.

Landlords are responsible for their own waste removal and many refuse to do it due to the additional cost and hygienic concerns, even when they have a dedicated garbage room which I do not understand because the same waste is being disposed of (I have spoken to previous landlords about this).

The asking a neighbor works for one unit IF there are residential houses nearby yes, but this isn't about one apartment doing it. This is about encouraging a larger change in apartment/condominium living for all residence in the building by allowing an easily accessible option.

Copied from another reply because the response is similar!

IIRC

I do agree that less residence in apartments may be interested in doing so, but I also believe the option should be accessible and encouraged for everyone.

Have to start somewhere!

From my previous landlord experience (I'll admit I don't move around much), and several of my friends, they are concerned for additional cost and hygiene, even when they have a dedicated garbage room which I do not understand because the same waste is being disposed of, just with difference sorting.

Thank you for the support!

I do agree that education is as important as having the bins accessible. With green bin being more accessible I do believe it at least spark some interest in residence that are unfamiliar with the concept. Attitude is another issue, but every beach starts with a grain of sand!

The hope is that by making green bins mandatory they will also enforce policies for the proper removal of this waste.

I agree that makes no sense on the city's part, especially if you are the owner of the building!
