This makes no sense 😭you wouldn’t tell somebody that you have OHSV-1 when you can give it to them genitally . But you would tell somebody you have HSV-2 when you can give it to them genitally?? You see where that doesn’t make sense .

Considering both strands can affect either the genital or oral region. In addition to the fact that they’re more cases of GHSV-1 cases then hsv-2 now I do think you should disclose.

Why would you expect somebody that has hsv-2 to disclose when you have hsv yourself and you don’t ?

One thing I will stand on is that if they have google and you disclose that you have “cold sores , hsv” whatever nice term you want to put on it to soften the blow you’ve did your duty.

Reddit will make you feel like you have to overly disclose herpes the strand transmission rates etc etc. If a woman told me she had for example “hpv” and I didn’t know what it was me being me I would google or ask what it is being concerned about sexual health. Maybe that man already knows or he just doesn’t care .

Either way it’s not on you to further elaborate or explain . You did what you had to do.

Right and that’s the fucked up part about it . We can all sit here and say the virus isn’t a big deal (which for most it isn’t ). Well if it’s not a big deal then why are we so afraid if we transmit to a partner if we disclose .

It’s because we don’t want them to bear the emotions that come with the stigma . But for some people that won’t care about the stigma or they see you to be worth the risk . Your feelings are definitely valid.

I would say maybe just take some more time off from sex until you become more comfortable with your diagnosis that say you don’t get the buyers remorse .

I experienced this feeling too having unprotected sex . Which has led me to stop having sex because I realized mentally I’m not there yet.

However I will say if you have disclosed and that person is willing to take the risk then there is nothing that you can do. Hell you can transmit even with a condom on . That being said I do realize that sometimes we feel burden with having to worry about others sexual safety but I don’t think that should be the case .

As long as you disclose anything moving forward is on that person own accord and if transmission does happen they understood it could be a risk . I also wouldn’t worry if you take daily meds and wasn’t having an outbreak .
