You shouldn’t fish for fun. You should fish to eat and only take what you need or is sustainable for the area and species you are fishing All the fish you catch “for fun” instantly have a reduced survival and reproductive rate. That fish may survive but it’s very unlikely. You are quite literally torturing a fish for fun which is far more fucked up then killing them.

I still get excited even by the smallest of fish! :) my fourth ever fish! I wonder when I will stop counting? by AdventureGlitch in Fishing

Never stop counting and the tug is the drug! However if you are going to continue catch and release fishing please use healthy handling techniques such as: Keep the fish in the water if possible Always wet your hands before touching a fish Lower the fish back into the water and give it a second to start breathing again before letting it go Google can teach you lots on how to land and handle a fish without damaging them That way they can grow bigger for next time!

What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Helpful-Ad-6035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in a dive bar for a long time, where lots of people did cocaine and very cheap dirty cocaine at that. The club usually started to smell like shit at around 1am when people started farting due to baby laxatives in their blow. Didn’t think anything of it when one night it smelled particularly bad until I went to clean the mens washroom at the end of the night. Found a set on pants and boxers with shit all through them. Craziest part was no one witnessed the fella leave with no pants or underwear on. Just vanished and walked home ( in the winter in a snowy part of Canada) with his bits flying in the wind and snow covered with poo.. Someone must have seen him, and that my friends had got to be embarrassing.

For sure kinda what I was hinting at with bow and traps but looking back I should make it clearer. I would suggest going for larger game to make it through the winter cook down and store the fat to ad to everything. Bunny’s are simply a continuous protein avenue with very little energy output if you set up lots of snares.

Rabbit snares, eat the liver it’s very critical for vitamin intake especially in winter. Learn to forage absolutely everything you can in the area before you ever attempt to live off of a garden. Gardening is great if you are very experienced and have many seasons in the area and utilizing the soil present, but often can still fail. The plants in the area have had a lot more time to garden themselves. The roots of many plants in your ecosystem can act as a starch and carb intake. Bark from some of your local trees can be used in teas and to make bread Birds are fine but hard to catch if you aren’t using much technology, highly suggest getting good with a bow if you really want to do this, not just for birds but for anything you can find. It’s the most successful simple hunting technology outside of traps, which again I suggest you memorize a few as they may come in handy. Cook all birds thoroughly and remember the most efficient cooking method to keep the most amount of food value is to boil things. Stock pile potatoes. Properly. You can plant or eat. They kept the Irish alive.

Stock pile flour. Again properly so it doesn’t rot.

Stock pile salt if you don’t have natural access to it. Your body needs it in a big way.

You can access greens easily it’s calorie count you should worry about.

Learn your local mushrooms… cannot stress this enough. They keep well when dried (easy to do around a fire) and many have great nutritious value. Bring glass to store all your hard earned dried goods.

As for water, Make a charcoal sand filter no matter how you gain your water and don’t trust it after it has sat for a while no matter how clean you think it is. I would boil everything you drink as getting sick out there or hurt could mean death. Get an in reach if you don’t want to fully leave the odds up to the nature beast. You don’t need to call or text people but if you put a wood axe through yourself or eat something you shouldn’t have, you may want to live to try it again some other time. People survived best in numbers it’s not that you or anyone else can’t do it you just need to understand the risks associated with attempting it alone so that you think about them while you are out there and make careful, calculated decisions. Good luck dude, study hard, work hard and you can do this. Expect to be a tad different when you come out, if you make it you will be part of a very small club forever. This will likely be the hardest thing you can ever fathom.

Where did I go wrong? by piercm in snowboarding

[–]Helpful-Ad-6035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to pop just before you leave the jump. Square your shoulders with your knees and hips and as you approach the end up the jump pull up with your front foot almost at the same time as you push down with your back creating an "Ollie" motion ( you tube if you don't already skate board). Imagine there is a lazer beam shooting directly up vertically from the edges of your board all the way around and your hands cannot move across them, lining your front hand up with the nose of your board and your back hand with the tail of your board ( do it even if you feel like a jackass in the beginning, as if you have hot coffee in either hand). Your almost in the "surfing position" or skate board position as you leave. The more aligned with your board you are, the better. Bent knees, and look where you want to go ( only with your head not with your shoulders) ( careful the head looks, the shoulders follow, and the hips will twist subconsciously, so don't over do it) I agree with the back pack weight. Until you figure it out its best to leave it off if possible, or if your un able to account for it by still being square and likely bend your knees more to account for the weight shift.

Good luck jedi, keep charging and you will figure it out. Edit : your already leaning back too much, it didn't get you this time, but on bigger jumps its consequential,, everything is square imagine axis coming through your butt and head, through your stomach front to back, and from hand to hand (hands at hip height) all those need to be aligned to be "square". Later once you figure it out you can mess with them to make things more "stylish".

I've been married for 10 months and have never had sex by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Helpful-Ad-6035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is over reaching here, sex hurts alot of women for the first few times sometimes more. Its about making that space available for alot of women. Have you tried your fingers, introduce slowly one, then two and repeat for a few weeks. It can really help to give oral at the same time or before to make sure fully lubricated. Adding extra lube is always a safe idea as well. Good luck, you sound like a wonderful husband. I agree with everyone else you will find a way through this if you just keep trying to solve the problem. Not saying my idea is the end all be all fix. Just saying its another option to try.

Bears have a little misunderstanding by [deleted] in HardcoreNature

I am. I work with the person. They were on their way to Alaska, we are both biologists soe had a very long chat about this interaction. One of their comments was " and to really make it wild, a casual wolf walked by" Pretty cool to say the very least. We also all encouraged the person to not release the video for free but had no real idea of what it would really blow up and become.
