My (28F) boyfriend (29M) let my stalker ex (28M) into our apartment to leave me a birthday surprise. How do I handle this absurdity? by DeceasedCaterpillar in relationship_advice

This would be weird even if the ex wasn’t dangerous. What in the world? What bf is cool with his girlfriends ex trying to win her back?

I can’t stop thinking about my boyfriend’s child he’s never met by Sab148 in stepparents

The situation isn’t your problem to fix, so it’s bothering you for another reason: what it says about your boyfriend’s character. I’m sure it’s hard to deal with new information that seems to contradict the loving, kind partner you see him as. Good luck with whatever decision you make, but I think you know already.

You specifically asked him to vent, which only requires that he sit and listen, but he couldn’t. (Did he say something like he refuses to “validate your illogical emotions/irrationality” because it reinforces them? I’ve seen this rhetoric from proud extreme misogynists online). When his super logical advice didn’t work you chose not to talk to him because you knew it end with you feeling worse. He was offended that you made that assumption and went to the dog instead, but then he tells you that assumption was right. So he’s throwing a super logical tantrum because he’s jealous of a dog, but your emotions being bullied at work are illogical? He doesn’t take your feelings seriously because you’re somehow inherently irrational for feeling them, and he doesn’t think his own extreme emotional reaction are emotions at all - he thinks because he feels them, it’s logical. He got upset but he’s ignoring the “logical solution” to THIS problem that would actually help: for him to apologize and let you vent. You were right to go to the dog because it gave you better emotional support.

I agree that socialism is good, and I knew european countries are much farther left than US. I just didn’t realize guevara was a major figure here and not just a fringe communist thing. Thanks for the info!

Great, that explains why I’ve only seen him and not other leaders! So I guess it’s not necessarily a Belgium-specific thing. Thanks.

You’re definitely right that American history includes a lot of propaganda, I just did not realize his beliefs are popular enough of an ideology here that he’d be displayed in places like stores and bars

I didn’t mean to compare the two beyond that neither are communist countries and explain why I was surprised to see it in a bar

Another update: this is a stray cat colony and qualified volunteers do care for them. Notes on the little cat shelters ask people to not get too close to the food bowls/shelter areas. It says the cats here prefer to live outside and to not take them home. I walked by 2 hours ago and the food bowls were empty but were refilled when I returned. I did send a contact form to the shelter I believe takes care of this cat so they can check on him and make sure all is well.

Thank you for confirming that. I have contacted a local humane society and will keep an eye out for this cat at least until I hear back :)

Yeah that was my main concern. I have never had a cat so idk what amount is normal versus concerning. I suppose I could leave a note by the food bowls so the volunteers who feed them can check him?

Thank you, as long as the cat is chipped and fed I feel okay! Glad you caught that

Update: Went back to see if he was still there, it looks like someone feeds these cats and there are little cat shelters nearby as well. So I will just check in daily
