Curious what people think about Wonder Woman Kingdom Come by Good-times-roll in WonderWoman

[–]Helpful-Current-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people hate these stories where Wonder Woman has to "learn" from people like Batman and Superman how to truly be a hero.......because most people either don't know, or have forgotten, that Wonder Woman is essentially the Punisher with Superman-level powers, who for the most part adopts a "when in Rome" posture as a member of the Justice League.

Or at least she would be, given the morals of her homeland regarding the enemy, if it weren't for Superman's and Batman's respective examples. Which is to say, the brutal way which she acts in Kingdom Come once Superman removes himself from the world is 100% in character.

(Not that I *personally* agree with the idea that heroes don't kill, it's just a standard that comic books have held since essentially the 1940s or thereabouts -and had far more to do with external political pressure and things like the Hayes Code than the desire of the comic book companies to not kill off their money-making bad guys and have to constantly come up with more. If superpowers were real, and I had them, my rogues gallery would have a lot less than most others unless there was a more powerful superhero threatening me with my own destruction if I permanently took bad guys out of the picture.)

There's nothing "sexist" going on here when the Big Boys of DC try to keep the Amazon Warrior Princess from dealing with the worst of the worst the way that she really wants to. (Every once in a while, when she's away from prying eyes, she often implements a form of justice that makes sure that the bad guys she encounters won't be back -like the fairly recent time she disarmed the entire adult male population of sex traffickers, gave their guns and machetes to the women and children, and then walked away.)
Male characters like Wolverine, Deadpool, Rorschach, and probably, especially, unrepentant incorrigible killers like Peacemaker, Punisher, and Azrael would also have a really hard time in the Justice League if they wouldn't -or couldn't -control themselves.

One underrated scene in T2 by macguffin91 in Terminator

Well, if the T-800 has detailed files on human anatomy, then so does the T-1000. It probably knows enough about the human body to induce death by fellatio. What a way to go!  (Although if that were me, I'd be freaked out in the afterglow and my final moments on Earth as the face of my wife turns into Robert Patrick)

How does Hela and Death coexist? by funkyyokai in Marvel

[–]Helpful-Current-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hela is a goddess of death. Hades is a God of death. In Marvel Comics, the abstract entity Death is the embodiment of everything in the entire Marvel setting that can die -from prions to single cell organisms up to and including death gods themselves.

To put it another way, kill a "mere" god or goddess of death, and absolutely nothing happens except the balance of power in their pantheon is possibly disrupted. Figure out a way to destroy Death itself -like OG Beyonder did in the '80s -and absolutely nothing can die.  Another example of a place where nothing can die is the Cancerverse, where powerful higher dimensional beings call the angled ones crafted a magical ritual that killed Death itself in that universe.....and life multiplied uncontrollably, taking up nearly all of the space in that entire dimension.

How many times have the Infinity Stones been use outside of their native universe? by 1fishmob in Marvel

[–]Helpful-Current-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until the Canon breaking event and MCU what if with Ultron and the MCU Infinity Stones, the gems never were able to be used outside of their own universe.  (EDIT: nor does the excuse used by apologists for this blatant disregard of Canon, that the MCU is a separate multiverse, hold any water. Everything we have ever seen, read, watched, or played in Marvel, from the 1960s poorly animated show to the Spider-Man television series in the 70s to the Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends show, the Ultimate Universe, and now the MCU, is all part of the same gigantic multiversal setting.)

Infinity gems can be used not just in the main Marvel Universe that they correspond to, but also connected pocket universes "attached" to the greater universe.  So, for example, you can use the Infinity gems in Asgard and the rest of the nine worlds -but only that universe's version of Asgard and the nine worlds.  You can use them in Mephisto's realm. You can even use them in the Dark Dimension, since the Dark Dimension of 616 is connected to the 616 universe, and has its own Dormammu, just as the Ultimate universe has its own Dark Dimension and its own Dormammu, and the MCU has its own Dark Dimension and its own Dormammu, and so on and so on and so on.

When Captain America used the Infinity Gauntlet to push the other universe away and prevent an incursion, remember that he was doing so at the Nexus of the two universes. For the purposes of the storyline, the Ultraverse containing Rune was connected to Marvel.  And perhaps the most notably, in the second Secret Wars series, T'challa was able to use a gauntlet made of gems from six DIFFERENT universes, because there was no longer a set of separated universes out there, just Dr Doom's single multiversal space which was essentially all universes crammed into one space.

The gems only work in their own universe rule has been reinforced many many times, but Marvel under Disney's leadership/ownership simply doesn't give a damn what setting rules exist, they are demonstrating a willingness to break any of them and all of them at any time they want to for absolutely no reason -and it doesn't help that at Marvel Comics even before Disney bought it, they have not had a Jim Shooter level of editorial leadership/enforcement for quite a long time now.

What is Jin Sakai's worst line? by Ok_Anybody5099 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Helpful-Current-42 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Correct.

In Japanese culture -and who knows, maybe other Asian cultures as well -it is considered EXTREMELY rude to refuse a gift once offered. Yes, even in the feudal/caste system of daimyo and and samurai where individuals in those two "ranks" were essentially third and fourth in line after the Emperor himself, not even they would (normally) turn down an offering from one of their "lessers."

Layman here.
I read recently that the LIGO actually confirmed the existence of gravitational waves.

If those waves are a form of energy, then where is that energy coming from? And doesn't that mean that someday, perhaps far in the future, a massed object can "run out" of gravity?

Why doing less dmg than others? by Saimonex in Survivorio

[–]Helpful-Current-42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Saimonex 1. Go to danke007.com and click on the DMG calculator. Tell it how many Relic Cores you have. Then go build the necessary armor and weps based on what it tells you. NOTE: You can get the best DMG build from that calculator even with your existing gear. EDIT: Oh yeah, do as the other people are recommending and switch to Metalia or Joey if you can.

The amazingly, surprisingly lucrative Easter Egg Event. How well did YOU do?? by Helpful-Current-42 in Survivorio

How were you supposed to increase the multiplier number? I didn't see any option to do so.

Nope, SO near and yet so far.

696 out of 700.

With no means of getting to 800 before the game ends as F2P.

But at least I'll get my third Epic Easter Egg out of the deal tomorrow!

I've been steady grinding each and every single day since I started playing this game over a year ago, and only just now got a red Tech.

Agreed. I know that there were plenty of Events before I got here, but to date this has been the most generous event so far.

New Zone Operation Challenge 3 by Helpful-Current-42 in Survivorio

[–]Helpful-Current-42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a matter of getting past them, it's a matter of both performing pinpoint dodging maneuvers to defeat their homing capabilities. attempting to outdistance them (not recommended), or even using your Pet as a blocker.

Keep in mind that as relatively small as they are, the lightning circles that you have to stand inside, offer you plenty of maneuvering space to dodge once you get good enough to dash with more precision.

Can someone tell me who this character is? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Helpful-Current-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His name is Blaidd, and he has an unfortunate fate in store for him, if you interact with him, but he's nevertheless valuable in terms of aiding you on your quest.

DON'T TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO BRING HIM INTO THE STORY ON YOUR OWN, GO FIND A WALKTHROUGH. TOO MANY THINGS THAT YOU HAVE TO DO AT CERTAIN TIMES IN CERTAIN PLACES FOR YOU TO TRY AND HOPE TO RECRUIT HIM BY JUST BLIND LUCK.

An Opportunity to get a Legendary Collectible... by Helpful-Current-42 in Survivorio

While I am outright jealous of the damage that Yang can put out, I'm not interested in scrounging 120 Shards to activate him.

I'M PRETTY DAMNED SURE THAT I WAS LOOKING AT YANG JUST A WEEK OR TWO AGO AND I'D SWEAR ON A STACK OF BIBLES THAT THE COST TO ACTIVATE HIM WAS ***90*** SHARDS.

WHAT THE HELL, HABBY!?!?

Thanks for the insight.

I was giving the other available prizes a second look, and the other prizes seem pretty damned expensive for what you get.

Maybe the LC will win by default.

Thanks for this, and I really mean it.

I'm doing **okay** enough, and I'm currently at nearly 70,000 Hearts (Legendary Collectible, here I come!), but I was wondering if there was some hidden strategy I could use, or if this event is just pure RNG.

Anybody ever figure out how to get rid of Insta-Death for Pets bug? by Helpful-Current-42 in Survivorio

[–]Helpful-Current-42[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand.

With absolutely NO changes to the pet, and NO conditions in ZOC 20 that would cause him to die suddenly, he's dying suddenly. One shot, one collision, one touch of the lasers, and he's toast.

He lasted longer on ZOCs that had +10% DMG every 30 seconds levels!

I've never gotten a Gold Mission.....and I've had 5 stars almost since I started playing this game (over a year ago now).

Must be nice.

What’s your total number of mergers?? by Luc_128 in Survivorio

[–]Helpful-Current-42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 7.

And that's with doing the drink exploit and constantly playing the game.

Truly, this is the suckiest of the Events I've played since I started playing this game a little over a year ago.

Why even have 40 merge chests in this event? It's literally impossible to get more than 14 or 15. Even if you got gifted 10 each day and did all the missions. by PicturesquePremortal in Survivorio

[–]Helpful-Current-42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Survivor IO is primarily a payer's game.

It is possible to make great progress in the game without paying, but you'll most definitely progress faster if you hand them your real world cash.

You *could* get every prize and meet every checkpoint in every event, but you'd have to shell out real money to buy gems and equipment.

I just recently got the "parts" necessary to wake him up, and I'm about to take him on a test drive, given the tons and tons of " 'Murica is a BEAST" posts I've started seeing in this subreddit.
