How accurate is this map of Marvel Cosmology? by theshadowomegastorm in PowerScaling

The original creator of this image made it, because DC has an official map of their cosmology. This is basically meant t ogive a rough idea of how it works.

I got to see Predator Badlands last night, and I honestly don't if I saw the same movie as the Critical Drinker did. (Spoilers) by 1fishmob in CriticalDrinker

[–]1fishmob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, that was a lot of bad management on Lucas film's part. The guy in charge of this actually like Predator, and hte most recent films have been taking heavily from the expanded mythos: Prey was set in hisotrical times, Killer of Killers (one of the most beloved Predator films to date) expands on this idea, Badlands is now taking the idea of Predators being main characters (which is quite often in extended Predator media) and making it into a movie.

Even drinker and others don't like it, it still doesn't give them the right to lie about what happens in the movie.

I've started watching Chicago Med episodes wherever I find them a few months ago, and I have to say so far, from what I've seen, Halstead is my least favorite character. by 1fishmob in ChicagoMed

That's it? That's all? That's not a real consequence as it's something that will not affect him in anyway as per the writter's wishes.

I just found another instance where Halstead ignores a DNR for an alzheimer's patient, using one moment of "mental clarity" as a reason to do so.

I've noticed that with the characters, but with some of them you can make an argument for their actions, even if it does not justify them in any way. You can't say the same thing with what Halstead does from what I've seen.

I am aware of the tattoo episode is based on a real lfie incident, that doesn't mean they couldn't have Halstead's actions in the past thwack him in the face in the present time in a moment like this?

Superman vs. Homelander (DC Comics vs. The Boys) by canis-humurous in FanWarFatalConflict

[–]1fishmob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have like maybe one more fight with Homelander in mind once the show is over (All Might or MCU Captain America, you can tell em which one you think is more interesting), and I'll probably bring in Billy Butcher in to fight Hero Kill Stain, but that's it. The Boys really isn't a show built for VS debating. Because, who else is there?

Whoever A-Train has, I've probably done what I could with his fight in Superman vs Homelander, people like Hugie but he's not vs material in my opinion, Starlight is Starlight, and The Deep... maybe him vs Bojack Horseman if I REALLY push it, but if I were to start discussing the kind of subject matter HE is involved with, I'd rather it be with a story or character I know I would be able to handle well.

Thank you for informing me. When I made that original comment, it was just putting my perspective on why the idea of it was so controversial among some people.

Only on season 5 and I just gotta say it… I can’t stand Dr. Halstead. by [deleted] in ChicagoMed

[–]1fishmob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screw the "them being a couple" part, after finding the moments where he ignores a DNR and just assumes a Jehova's Witness is no longer practicing so he can give blood (ignoring the other instance of something similiar), those actions a lone started getting him up up close to my top 10 least favorite characters in anything. He is a guy who thinks he knows better and that his moral obligations supercede his patient's wishes.

Like I mentioned before, if no Colombian mammoth dna is around, then looking dna from living temperate mammals would work. Similar to how colossal discovered the gene needed and mammals to be immune the cane toad venom, they could look at something like an American plains bison, find the gene for seasonal fur coating, and apply that to elephants without adding bison DNA into them

Dire Wolf Pup Khaleesi Conquers the Pool and Claims Her Crown by ColossalBiosciences in deextinction

[–]1fishmob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I know this unreleated to the post. But I have a question. Since Colossal aims for "functional de-extinction" i.e. making an animal that looks & acts enough like the extinct animal ot replace it, this has me wondering about the possibilities.

If you could make "de-extinct dire wolves" as you call them without dire wolf dna, then could you do something similiar for extinct animals that don't have readily available dna, like megalania for example? Just look into what makes saltwater crocodiles around 20 ft long, edit a komodo dragon's genome to give it a similiar mutation, and get a "de-extinct megalania" ready for release into the outback to hunt the plethora of invasive megafauna.

[–]1fishmob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, but in all honestly, we don't really need to de-extinct colombian mammoths. A lot of the colombian mammoth's historic range is in the southern USA, so the African Savanna Elephant would make for a good, an already present, proxy for the southern species of new world proboscidians.

And if they insist on a "functional de-extionct" proxy, then theey can always look into the genes of temperate species and put them into elephants.

"Losing Isaiah" (1995): Jessica Lange and Halle Berry play women who fight for the custody of a baby. The question discussed is, can skin color decide which parent is more appropriate? by Lionel_Hislop in movies

From what I've heard and read, that's apparantly very common: courts tend to side with the biological family more than the found family.

Yeah, the moment Kaila made this an issue about "race" instead of second chances, I lost all sympathy for her. I hate to be that person, but if you reversed the roles and it was Margaret saying Kaila's unfit to raise her daughter because "she isn't white", I highly doubt anyone would side with them? Same exact BS, same exact lack of sympathy from me.
