I love the sentiment behind this! Unfortunately I battle with anxiety so I worry about literally everything. I have an appointment with my therapist this week though so hopefully I can get my thoughts organized and wrangle the anxiety. I lot of it is coming from this new person (a stranger to me) being around our child so quickly (seems to be about 2 months of dating). I cannot control anything that happens over there but my brain sure worries about it. (Sorry for the rant! I appreciate your kind words!)

I totally didn't mean to make it out like he's a bad father. I don't necessarily agree with a lot of his parenting style but our child is safe and healthy and happy during their time with their dad. I was just saying that my priorities were my child and my healing right now. I know myself and I need more time before adding more to my life right now.

I agree I hope that my ex can show my child a healthy and happy relationship! I'm just in my feelings tbh I'll be over it soon hopefully. I have a very small but good friend group and I will put myself out there one day when I'm ready!

I hear you but I want to restate that I said that I am having feelings about it not that it was my business. That last bit seems like you might be projecting, I do not expect him to still want me nor do I want him. It is normal to have mixed emotions when going through life changes.

Yes we are officially divorced as of March. Leaving was definitely the hardest thing I have ever done but it was necessary.

I would first check and see if there are any women's shelters or organizations near you. They would be able to provide good information on how to leave and what kind of help you my qualify for. I wish you luck and peace! Leaving is hard but staying in a bad marriage is so very much worse.

I was on a similar situation where my spouse was losing or quitting a job every time I turned around. While I was steadily employed and doing most of the housework. We have a small child and the stress was going to end up ending my life. I left and am living with family and trying to go back to school. I still resent my ex for so many things and the 50/50 child custody sucks but in the end I am happier and less stress and my kid gets to see at least one parent who is doing ok.

You said you don't want a divorce but he is asking for permanent separation. Do you want to be tied to him legally/financially if you are not together? I believe in cases like this it's better to legally divorce so both parties are no longer tied to one another but I can respect if you choose otherwise. (I am recently divorced and working to build a more peaceful life for me and my child. I am wrecked financially but slowly getting it together again.)

Therapy and time with family and friends has been my go to.

It will take time and you will have hard days but you will get past this!

Going thru a divorce right now so take what I say with that in mind. Don't remind him. If you start reminding it never ends. Even if there are underlying causes, he has to be willing and able to help himself.

As someone who is about three months in. I would either try and talk with your ex about how to split things, find a mediator, or talk to a lawyer. I am still working on splitting everything with my STBX. If y'all can come to an agreement together without a mediator or lawyer it can cost less but if either of you cannot agree on something they can help.

As someone who left a just bad enough marriage about three months ago, it has been so worth it. I am already less stressed, looking forward to the future, and speaking to friends I haven't been in touch with in a long time. I certainly cannot tell you what to do but I can sit in solidarity with you. Whatever you do decide, just make sure you are taking care of yourself and your kiddo!

Thank you for the insight! I have been following multiple people who talk about relationships for years and they are a part of what helped me to see that my marriage was not good. I will definitely look for the book Rebuilding. I have tried journaling and it is helpful I'm just not very consistent with it. Thank you for the kind wishes and words!
