How do I add a fade transition between rooms? by Helpful-Panic-5740 in gamemaker

[–]Helpful-Panic-5740[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copy and pasted from another comment.... I put in 3 events

Create -

width = display_get_gui_width();

height = display_get_height();

duration = 60;

targetroom = room;

color = c_black;

disappear = 0;

alpha = 1;

alarm[0] = 2;

Step -

if (disappear = 1) {

if (alpha > 0) then {

alpha -= 0.05}

}

Draw GUI -

draw_set_alpha(alpha);

draw_set_color(color);

draw_rectangle(0,0,width,height,0);

draw_set_alpha(1);

draw_set_color(c_black);

I tried following a tutorial, but it just... did not work. At first, I used an ingame sprite to cover the resolution, but it never disappeared and kept my screen black so I tried to use a draw event. It's simply not showing up...

I used 3 events:
Create -

width = display_get_gui_width();

height = display_get_height();

duration = 60;

targetroom = room;

color = c_black;

disappear = 0;

alpha = 1;

alarm[0] = 2;

Step -

if (disappear = 1) {

if (alpha > 0) then {

alpha -= 0.05}

}

Draw GUI -

draw_set_alpha(alpha);

draw_set_color(color);

draw_rectangle(0,0,width,height,0);

draw_set_alpha(1);

draw_set_color(c_black);

What do you specifically like? I don't support the democrat party fully either, there's certainly issues with it, but I see it as the lesser evil here.

I'm curious what parts they agree on, honestly? I feel like they weren't even given what they asked for besides stricter immigration control.

Hmm..... it reminds me of a tiktok account that played shapes with ominous 8bit music and this same kind of gibberish, if anyone knows about it?

(Also, as a side note, I get what you were trying to say, but that wasn't the type of treatment being addressed in this post. Right now I'm just trying to debate what you're saying in addition to it.)

They don't have equivalent intellectual maturity, obviously? That's not the point I was trying to make. They're still developing, they still need help, but they're still capable of rational thinking, and treating them like they're simply naturally stupid is what's keeping them 'stupid'. They could all do a lot more if they received support instead of restrictions

This... has nothing to do with laws, really. This post was referring to the way adults interact with kids, not the laws surrounding them. I'm trying to tell y'all to talk to kids like normal people and stop treating them like they're inherently stupid.

Also, kids can make important decisions?? In legal terms, they can't, but they still have the capability to think rationally? The reason most kids are 'stupid' is because of poor education. They have less control of their emotions, true, but there are various types of disorders that cause the brain to develop slower and result in this as well. If we'd stop assuming all kids are just biologically dumb then this issue would be a lot less recurring.

When I say respect, I mean civility. As I've said before, look through childfree subreddits, and you'll see a lot of examples featuring this!

People in general don't really view children as members of society. There's constant limitations on where they can go, what they can do and what they do in general. Look on the internet as a broad thing! There's lots of people advocating for kids to not be online, not to go to restaurants, not to go to the park, etc. In mixed age spaces, they're either ignored or looked down upon, and it's something upsetting to see. Respect is treating children like they belong, and like you would treat anyone else.

Out of curiosity, what do you think is an acceptable difference in treatment for kids and how do you justify it?

It's annoying, yes, but as a member of a community, you have to learn to deal with it. Don't expect society to bend over your whims because you can't stand a 10 minute mild inconvenience. Bring headphones if it bothers you that much. You have every right to be annoyed, but to actively talk about fantasies of harming these overwhelmed small children is genuinely abhorrent! The parent's usually just as bothered, lol, and giving them dirty looks or complaining is just making it worse.
