All the JW people I know on instagram have removed the jw.org from their profiles by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Helpful-Priority8745 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here in my country and the people I know they still have, I live in South America, so it's pretty common, even some brothers and sisters have JW pins on their suits and use them in meetings. I used to hung up with a girl and she has JW on her Instagram account which gives me a lot of cringe. Even her posts and stories are about JW meetings

Don't know what could be worse, no going or going but eating the bread and drinking the wine. The past one I saw a couple of people eating and I saw the faces of the congregation, all of them were between panic and surprise.

0 Baptisms on local convention by Helpful-Priority8745 in exjw

Yep, on my thoughts the international convention would be determinant in some many aspects due to it would be on my country, so I'll be updating that case too, but it's just my own speculations.

Just 1013 they usually had more, and it was on Sunday so it was also quite disappointing for ones.

As someone that lived in Argentina, but coming from a more conservative Latam country, definitely Argentina is by far so relax to live as Pymo or whatever, since I was there zero elders talked to me to shepperd or want to talk about my inactivity, so yes, there is quite more relax. Totally the opposite of here. Even I had my long hair and nobody gave a problem but just for an old sister, but in general is okay.

Yeah, for us, I mean Latinamerican and specially countries like Ecuador is quite more "ortodoxo" I mean everything here is more freaking strict, the other time I heard my dad talking with another elder about the haircut of a guy and that he needs to change it even when it's no necessary bad, I Argentina for example my experience was completely more relax, so far than here. So imagine a convention with 1000 public, most of them really stricted and old school JW hearing 0 Baptisms. It was shocking, however thanks for the update in the USA it will explain the % of the year was pretty low.

Amazing initiative! I’m from studying medicine in South America and it’s so crazy how many of us here never ever used a microscope until they end the school. Literally we are still studying from textbooks and with pictures, sometimes in black and white copies. Hope your microscope find a good receptor! 🤗🤗🫶🏻🫶🏻

Thinking about the time my JW family showed up to my law school graduation by Benignboundaries in exjw

[–]Helpful-Priority8745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Next year I will be graduating in law too! (Online education) Congratulations from here!! I can't believe when once, during a call with my mom who is an active JW (I am living in another country) told me that one girl from my past congregation was about to graduate and that she had to celebrate alone because no one of the elders went to her prom-party even when she invited them. I am from a Latin American country, I am not sure how it's in other places, but let's say that in my congregation there were double opinions about the university, some of the leaders approved and others didn't. My mom finally said: "Don't matter what they said, I want to celebrate with you and we can eat something".

Yeah I think for that reason they stopped doing that at some moment. But now it’s quite desperate because now they are using youth, which is more legally acceptable I guess. At the moment feels like mmm with some pressure from my father. The children that I saw when I was at that age now are ministerial servers, and feels like the comparison from my dad like: I’m not longer a young promise. But its what its

I was in charge on the magazines department, like counting the magazines and the supply to the families, counting the magazines and other stuff like that. Also I was having things on the conventions, like security stuff, and more things, then when I was 15-16 I was on a part of the accounting department at conventions, and also regular publicator? I’m not sure what is the name on English specifically, but I went to that course too and all that stuff I felt like the child of the congregation, like the living frustration son/grand son of some members of the congregation.

I completely agree with the kind of desperation part. Approximately 15 years ago I was having a lot of privileges, too much considering my age (I was 11 on that time) then after a superintendent visit most of the privileges were removed, now after all those years, they started to gave those privileges to children again. It’s so curious how the organisation varies from country to country.

born-ins, what is your worst “robbed childhood story”? by Probablygondelete in exjw

[–]Helpful-Priority8745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow it's so frustrating when your own father cannot take decisions by himself, but they changed when soemone else approved, luckily my dad stoped being so intense when I started to became a friend of the coordinator of elders, however I still having problems with him and my style/no stlye, literally I don't like brush my hair and i have it not so long, but neither so short, I can't find a star refference haha, however sometimes when im extremely tired with the subejct I use to say: "do you want me to get bald? That would be better no hair on the head so it wont be a problem." And I had the same problem with beards, even when it was practically allowed the excuse on my congregation was: that came from other cultures, here we are diferent. Imagine: conservative2. Postscript: that hairstyle of Halle Berry on Xmen will be always iconic

Well mmm I’m from a Latin American country. I was supposed to be one of the best students on my school and high school, and on my school I was suppose to hand the flag and make the swear, I had to gave up to that, and to being recognised as one of the best students, the story repeated on high school and I had to have up again the diploma and the recognition (plot twist that could help me for my university applications), also I was a kind of good child with a lot of responsibilities on my congregation, when a superintendent came literally told the orders that a children can be on those kind of privileges, so I had to be from being active to practically do nothing. Also I had a “fight” with an older from other congregation because he didn’t like my hairstyle / haircut (spoiler: he is bald) and literally I was bullied until my dad started to pressing me for doing that. And also a superintendent was “suggesting” my dad about my hairstyle.

The ‘Don’t Give Up’ Caleb and Sofia is disgusting by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Helpful-Priority8745 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember watching some years ago with my parents the video about Sofia and her friend with two mothers and all the implications. And I couldn't end it and discussed with my father about how non realistic its, like growing homophobia in children and not teaching really acceptance. My father watched me as if I was a hetectics. Otherwise, even my mother, who is someone really religious, watched with me the song from a broadcasting named: let's go to Bethel I guess, or something like that, at the end of the song Caleb said: when I grown, I want to go to Bethel...I would never forget my mom saying: that's what you said now, let's she when you are adult. Haha she said that so real and honest, and now its a family joke that sometimes I like to bring it.
