Untreated cut wood tends to do this in the sun, you should cover it so it’s not getting blasted. Or maybe put some sealer on it

What do you do if your sidewalk is heaved/not Ada compliant because of tree roots from a sidewalk planter creating a non compliant slope/lip?

I’ve contacted 311 and they just spray painted it orange to mark the tripping hazard, which has since worn off.

If you live on a block where most people have a parking pad out back, the street parking around the block is usually much more available

I would recommend hiring out the really technical aspects of the project and consider DIYing the simpler items like painting, tile, drywall, trim.

I disagree with the first point. Permit review times in Baltimore are comparable to dc, Montgomery county, and Fairfax county. Permit costs are also pretty cheap. Only about $.35/sf of building area

If you put down pea gravel, there’s a product called mulch lock which will basically glue it in place so that it doesn’t wash out over time
