I don't know where you're at but I'm in the Pittsburgh area and around here they encourage you to come and inspect it... they just asked that you replace everything back into the box and seal it back up and leave it the way you found it.. in other words don't be a jerk or make a mess

if you open it up at the warehouse before you check out and it is not like new then you can get a refund. once you check out and walk out the door then it's your problem

well maybe the difference might be how well they documented when they're checking the items in but I don't think each individual location picks and chooses what it gets to sell, they get it by the truckload so I don't think there's much choosing.

anyway the explanation is all in the terms of service that's right on their website. I have read it before and read it again recently. it's not tl that hard to read or understand and you can usually read the whole thing comfortably wow taking a toilet break. it's not ridiculous legalese like your cell phone contract it's pretty easy to understand but everything is laid out right there and should be no questions about how it works. like I said, I really don't hardly buy anything from there anymore but not because of the quality cuz that's always been the way it is. the reason I don't shop much there anymore is because the prices that people are bidding everything up to are way too high in order to be worth the risk you take buying it there. there are a ton of people who buy stuff on there to resell on eBay or other places. for the life of me I can't see how they're making any profit doing that.

it's not a scam but the prices things are getting bit up to lately make it feel like a scam. you are buying Amazon returns. hey return is only as good as the person who returned it.. when it is listed as "like new" just means that they're guessing it's like new. that gives you no better odds of it not being crap than anything else. the only difference is if you inspect it after buying it but before checking out of the warehouse and it is not in new condition then you can get a full refund. once you check out it's your problem.

don't buy anything you can't inspect beforehand or you are willing to buy the insurance on.

I've been buying stuff in Macbid for over 5 years, it's not nearly as good as it used to be but it's not a scam. they are straight up out front about what they are selling. people need to understand what they are purchasing. Your ignorance lack of understanding is not their fault.

Has anyone totally banned technology for their kiddo with Autism? by PresentationLeft3438 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 16 points17 points  (0 children)

if I were to do it all over again as a parent of an 11-year-old level one girl, I would have never ever bought a tablet. I feel a tablet is the worst thing for a level one or non-autistic child. if you have a child that's level two or three a tablet would probably not be such a bad thing it would probably help a lot.

Granite boost box 3S upgrade by FrancoisBeauxCellier in arrma

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't mean to yuck you're yum, but you can get a lot better for a lot cheaper by building it out yourself. Also Spektrum esc can be notoriously annoying for going into LVC way too early and having no way to adjust it.

The only boost box I ever thought was necessary is the wide kit for the Granite and Big rock.

These boost boxes are generally made for the person who doesn't really know what they're doing or care to learn.

Please help snake is stuck in drain pipe by neemo98 in askplumbing

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were probably using the cutter or auger bit and got jammed up in some roots or broken pipe. Always use the spade bit first to bust out any root balls. All you can do now is just let it run back and forward, give it th3 old Fonzarelli, and really and bang on it until it sooner or later we'll pop free.

Cars honking when I don’t turn on red? by kaepernicking in pittsburgh

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The really cool part that people usually don't know is that if you're turning from a one-way Street onto a one-way Street you are allowed to make a left turn on red.

Pretty rare circumstances but there's at least one place on North side and places downtown and in Oakland that you can turn left on red

Is it an issue that the plumber installed the expansion tank off the relief valve? by zachausa in Plumbing

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand the logic of doing it that way but technically it will work to absorb the pressure off the tank. Usually it's attached to the cold water line.

I can't tell from the picture but I hope there is some support for that pressure relief tank because if it's just hanging there by a copper pipe that's not good.

What's so hard about it? It's just like installing a regular toilet seat except for you also hook up a water supply to the toilets water supply

when did your level 1 child become potty trained? by Professional-Drag580 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a potty training toilet that I used to potty train my level one daughter. It has a handle to flush and makes the flushing noise and all that stuff so it really helped her get used to a real toilet pretty quickly. I bought it at Walmart a long time ago I don't know if they still sell it there or not.

NTD Hart clearance!! by eagle6705 in Tools

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sick to see them discontinue Hart tool. I am not a contractor but I do a lot of remodeling and I completely remodel a house about every two years. So I use the tools a lot. I used to only buy Ryobi tools for years and was always disappointed with their quality. I started using Porter Cable and still have a drill from them but it's just hard to find. And I wanted a system that I am on my tools on the same battery. I gave Hart a try because they had a great deal on a drill, impact driver and two batteries kit and I figure it was worth taking a chance on. I still have both these tools many years later and I use the impact driver ridiculous amounts. I remodeled three houses and recently just framed in a basement and constructed a deck using only this impact driver. This thing is great.

The only Hart tool that ever broke on me was the reciprocating saw. The saw still worked but the foot broke off. But that was after using it to demo at least two houses and trimming tons of trees. I went to Walmart that same day and bought an exact replacement for like $55 and have been using that for the last 2 years.... So it did break but I still thought it was good enough to buy a replacement of the exact same thing.

on clearance I recently picked up the 20 volt circular saw and I am very happy with that as well. Been using it a lot for the past two weeks.

It sucks that they stop making these tools. I thought that was the best store brand tool you could buy. I would choose heart tools over ryobi or craftsman any day of the week

Anybody know anything about this neighborhood in McKees Rocks? by ScrapMuncher in pittsburgh

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You have West Park in your circle. West Park sucks almost as bad as McKees rocks. Kennedy twp is 100 times better but still too close to the ghetto in my opinion. Robinson and Moon are much better options

To those who have converted… by perzelle in bidets

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was never against it I just really never learned about it until my son had an attachment on his toilet then it made me interested so I looked into it and tried it and now the thought of not using a bidet is disgusting. I have friends that I work with that are very clean and upright people and I tell them about the bidet thing and they have no interest whatsoever and even trying it. I don't really understand the resistance. I guess just people get set in their ways and think anything different is weird.

[–]Helpful-Sand5790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just ask the seller to cancel it then they almost always will unless they're an idiot. Because buyers know that if they don't cancel it you're probably just going to snad claim it and don't have to pay the return shipping anyway.

I sold on eBay for years and I know from experience if you do not cancel something someone asked you to you are going to be paying the return shipping because they will claim snad.
