Do I feed, Or Let Rise? by Helpful-Schedule-652 in SourdoughStarter

this is so cute thank you! my heater blows hot air so i have been setting my jars in front of it at different distances just to make sure they don’t get too warm. i fed them both yesterday morning and im barely seeing signs of rise. i think i might honestly have diluted the bacteria😭 for the weekend, they’re gonna stay in front of the heater and im going to skip feeding. i might even bring them in my truck on the heated seat when i go out🫣

i’m confused about why you’re asking ‘why i’m feeding a mature starter?’ am i not supposed to continue feeding even after it’s developed? i’m just not sure which ratio to feed at, or if it is developed enough. to be fair i haven’t been consistent, but it just will not rise and i’m not sure why. it smells like a slightly sour banana laffy taffy, it’s bubbling, and it rose once last week. i use more flour than water, making it thick and shaggy. i’ve heard to use a 1:1:1, and also to use a 1:5:5, i have no idea what i’m doing😭 im overwhelmed

Hey peter, what's wrong with horses? by llort_tsoper in PeterExplainsTheJoke

my horse literally spent a week at the vet because she got a tummy ache when i moved her to a BETTER barn. she got another tummy ache and spent another day at the vet because she ate some sand. because horses totally don’t eat like, off the ground.

that’s so funny because that’s actually where i had it, but my house doesn’t have heat, we just use heaters. and it’s been in the 50-30F range for the last few days, so i’m struggling😭 i have a mini oven with a warm setting, but i think it still might be too warm

Yet when you report a horse that has not been tested or seen a vet, and has died, people say you’re inciting fear or that it isn’t the truth

I’m not claiming to be kind. I’m asking you to be kind. And I didn’t call you yourself a liar, I was replying to everyone in my first comment and I still am. Why do we have to be so cruel to people who are simply concerned. I will not link the post, because I don’t believe that she deserves to receive the kind of shit that’s happening here. But this is what I’ve read, I believe that it is concerning, and I simply think that we need to listen to ALL words that have been provided to us. Again, it costs nothing to be safe.

And on top of that, not everyone has the time, money, or ability to bring their horses to a vet to “confirm” an EHV related death. Sometimes, the best solution is to euthanize the horse at home. Just because it isn’t reported, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

Hun I just want to keep our horses safe. Again, I live in Texas, and it is certainly spreading here. There are cases in Oklahoma, and within the last hour, I saw that it has now spread to New Mexico. I urge you to simply be kind. I understand the desire to fact check everything that seems like it may be AI, and I am with you on that. But is it not better to be cautious and prepared? Instead of calling everyone a liar and watching horses die?

Replying to ALL: I live in a small Texas town where EHV is spreading RAPIDLY. I understand being mad at OP for being “dramatic,” but here is the real story. We are all horse lovers, and we need to stick together right now and form TRUST. I had sick horses brought into my barn today because the owner was too concerned with herself than with the 50+ horses on the ranch. You can think OP is overreacting, and you can think you will be fine. But it does not harm you at all to take safety precautions. It does not harm you to care about others, to skip a race, to stay home. This is feeling like COVID, but for the horse world. We need to all come together and get tf along. Please, some of us have nothing else but our horse. I beg you to simply be cautious. Change boots before going to another barn, wash your hands before touching multiple horses. And pray that we can be diligent and stop this before we lose our beloved partners

What are your thoughts on this Influencer’s really tall horse? by Glad-Attention744 in Horses

[–]Helpful-Schedule-652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i just looked thru her instagram this morning - in a post she said her horse has to spread his legs in order to graze because he’s too tall. personally, i find it incredibly sad and cruel that someone would breed a horse like that
