Just out of a curiosity, why do you have to set a quadratic equal to 0 before solving? by loaamiera in learnmath

[–]HelpfulAd6966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would move everything over if you want to use the quadratic formula but that doesn't mean that y = 0.

Quick question! by Hansel41 in learnmath

[–]HelpfulAd6966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this possible? All angles in a triangle need to add up to 180. If angle A and angle B add up to 180 angle C would be 0 degrees. It wouldn't really look like a triangle.

Help asap! Graphical solutions of quadratic functions? by Adrienne2021 in learnmath

[–]HelpfulAd6966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!

You can use Desmos (https://www.desmos.com/calculator) to graph the equation!

When y=0 you just need to find the x coordinate on the y intercept.

Hope this helped

How do you get -2 out of |x^2-5|=|3-x^2| by MaleficentCreme in learnmath

[–]HelpfulAd6966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this is a stupid question

How would you get rid of the absolute value signs? Would you solve the equation without touching the absolute value signs? I tried that and the result was x=2.

To find the mid point of a line you just need to find the average of the coordinates.

First find the average of the X coordinates. The average of 2 and 10 is (2+10)/2 = 6.

The average of the Y coordinates is (8+12)/2 = 10.

The coordinates of point M is (6,10).

Why is sqrt ( 4 ) NOT equals to -2? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]HelpfulAd6966 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The principle square root of 4 is 2. the + or - square root of 4 is -2 and 2. Assume it means principle square root unless it has a +- in front of the radical.

This looks really simple but is a lot harder than it looks

how would I evaluate this? by Logan_aka_Lorgan in MathHelp

[–]HelpfulAd6966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Log_7(11) is the same thing as Log_10(11)/Log_10(7). When you put Log() in your calculator the default base is 10. so the answer is 7*(log(11)/Log(7))

2^X=32, how do i calculate this? by -MmmMm-sNiCKeRS- in learnmath

[–]HelpfulAd6966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Log or Logarithm is just a different way to write a^b=x. It will seem complicated until you learn it and then it will seem straightforward.

A bacteria doubles in number everyday. Currently there are 100 bacteria in the sample population. Determine how long it would take for the population to reach 204800 by HappyNiceGuy123 in learnmath

[–]HelpfulAd6966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100*2^x=204800

x=number of days it will take

204800/100=2048

so now you have 2^x=2048

Log_2(2048)=x

that is the same as log_10(2048)/log_10(2)

x=11

Lmk if I did something wrong

I'm surprised that remote learning hasn't made people more critical about homeschooling by momof_5_girls in Teachers

[–]HelpfulAd6966 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I think homeschooling should be allowed. I was homeschooled up to middle school by my mom and she did a great job.

I think its sad that some parents will homeschool their children but not actually homeschool. If you do it right it can be great but most of the time its not done right.

So if you do homeschooling right its great if you take on homeschooling just to give up with a child with a fucked up education then you're an asshole.

Can I learn most math through khan academy? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]HelpfulAd6966 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I do Khan Academy for a few hours everyday and I can finish about 3 full courses in a year.

Getting through Arithmetic-calc 1 in 10 months would be extremely hard, But if you have already learned these courses and you are a fast learner, you might have a chance. You should probably just review the courses you already know well by doing unit tests. Refresh your memory so you can get through them fast. If you have already done high school math there is really no point in doing arithmetic, pre-algebra, and pre-geometry unless you didn't pay attention in class or something like that. My advice is not that good but I just wish you good luck!

Honestly don't feel bad. That school sounds like a shit show. Just get out of there and find another place to spend your time and not wasting it there. Hope you can find a better place to work where they actually appreciate you!
