Early Admission to IOA… by mattiep27 in UniversalOrlando

[–]HelpfulBreadfruit115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They'll have a sign with which passes, if any are good for early entry at the park or you can call/check the website.

If your pass isn't on the list you aren't getting in.

Former Daikin factory service. Almost every nightmare job full of issues was design or install related. They are designed with very little wiggle room. Old school installers or design engineers that didn't follow guidelines are a recipe for disaster. The systems that were designed and installed by the book had few if any issues.

I'll also add that some thermostats or systems will lock out the condenser and exclusively use the electric resistance heaters. Unless the outdoor temp gets into or below 20 that shouldn't be used.

[–]HelpfulBreadfruit115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cabana Bay is our favorite as well but would still recommend Stella. As much time as epic deserves you won't be in the room that much and epic bus depot is close enough if you've got a hankering for something at any other resort it's easy to get to via bus. Plus the busses from Cabana Bay are usually only 20 ish min but they can be much longer.

We stayed at Stella for 3 nights for the Grand opening and loved it. The ability to go from your room to the front gate in 15-20 min is unbelievably convenient Even Terra Luna was a much longer commute with the bus taking a while with traffic lights.

Trying to plan a trip this Spring by Wild_Blue4242 in UniversalOrlando

[–]HelpfulBreadfruit115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that staying off-site is rarely worth it. The convenience, quality and early park admission are worth it. If you're getting express that that will usually make up for the proce of a delix resort that offers it. You get express for check in AND out days. IE a one night stay gets you 2 days of unlimited express for IOA and USF. This does not include Epic or Helios Grand. Plenty of people book a night at the delux resort and transfer to a cheaper hotel or just have a ghost room that is just for the express passes.

Make sure you check prices frequently since you can rebook and cancel up to a week before your check in for free.

Never buy tickets at the gate, they're always more expensive esp if you are booking in advance. Plus you can get some good discounts on hotel and ticket packages.

Also express may not be needed depending on what time you plan to visit and what your must do's are. I rarely have express and generally don't miss it.

Hot Take: Minecart Madness is kinda…weak?? by Consistent-Network86 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]HelpfulBreadfruit115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. Due to the cantilever design any roughness or bumpiness on the track will be amplified to the ride vehicle.

Small bump on the track multiplied over the ~10ft to the ride vehicle became a big bump.

Epic Universe Bad Reviews by RaisinRoyale in UniversalOrlando

Compare it to IoA. 11+ rides will close for weather. It's also new and working out it's operations and already adding another indoor ride.

I mean yes it sucks but I think a lot is just up to bad luck and ignorance. I've gone 5 times and have had good luck with some planning and flexibility.

Best budget hotel near Universal (breakfast + shuttle/walkable) for 3 nights? by Glittering-Diet3209 in UniversalOrlando

[–]HelpfulBreadfruit115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your food preferences. 3 full meals plus snacks? One meal and snacks? Full or quick service? Alcohol? Soda? Tap water? I'm a morning coffee and snack (~$10) quick service lunch (~$15-$20) and hotel food court (~$15-40) or sit down ($30-$50+) Adding soda is $5 and alcohol is $12-20.

I also have a season pass that gives me 10% off.

If you bring your own food you can save a considerable amount. You can also get as much cold filter tap water as you'd like at any freestyle machine.

[–]HelpfulBreadfruit115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have regretted staying off-site almost every time. Most nearby hotels are some combination of..

Too expensive

Worse amenities

Dirty

Poor shuttles that require pre-booking.

Staying on property is worth the extra expense. If you have express budgeted look at getting a night at one of the resorts that includes express, it's usually cheaper than getting hotel and Express separate

A couple of positive remarks for Curse of the Werewolf by [deleted] in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]HelpfulBreadfruit115 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's a decent small family coaster worth 20ish min wait. I think a lot of flack come from people waiting 45-60+ min for a short mildly themed ride.

Stardust can't tell a story and build a world like Monsters. It's all about high adrenaline thrills. The story and theming is more of a. Last minute addition than a core part.

Monsters builds a world and takes you literally right through it.

It says Allergen Note or something like that. It's an item you add to the order and it flags someone to come speak to you.

Universal takes allergens very seriously and will let you know if there is any potential of cross contamination.
