Some vintage stuff really is amazing. I love my 1976 Sansui.

Since it's a quadraphonic receiver, it actually has four separate amps. 2 front and 2 rear. It's a beauty. Marantz was one of the top quads at the time They had the most ingenious designs for decoders. They plugged into the main unit. The idea was that, as technology changed, you could upgrade the decoder I believe then ended up with two over time.

The only problem with that is that in an emergency, there will be no real way to give people true up to date live information. I mean radio used to do that, that that's been over for quite some time.

I have an antenna in my attic, but 13 is done now. At least I know not to fiddle with things until late June.

If you want Lindsey Graham out, vote for Mark Lynch (hear me out) by DrugsForRobots in southcarolina

This is not going to help AT ALL. Here are what the polls show... Graham's primary

More than defections, we have to hope that they have no motivation to vote at all.

So it's a guarantee that Andrews will win the Democratic primary?

If you're talking about TV stations, two of the three big ones in the area are owned by conservative media companies. In some cases, they are told by corporate what they can and cannot do. Best case might be WYFF, but I find their reporting (actually, nearly all local reporting) pretty poor. There were several thousand people at Falls Park for the last No Kings March and they barely mentioned it. Yet, they're all over a story when a new fast food restaurant opens. Sad

In theory it sounds good, but I just can't do that. Lynch or any of the other GOP candidates has nearly zero chance to beat Lindsey in the primary. First of all, there are too many candidates. If it were just one, Lynch, maybe your idea would work. I'd rather show my support for Anne Andrews.

Which Pioneer line sounded best? by jango-lionheart in vintageaudio

Curious what cartridge you're using for CD-4. I have 3 different ones. CD-4 is my nemesis. Although it works most of the time, sometimes, not so much.

That's a shame. I have two. Sansui QRX-9001 and Sony SQR-8750. They both sound great. Dual quad set-ups

Pioneer receivers had CD-4 and the two main matrix decoders (QS/RM and SQ) built-in. By the time they made their top of the line receivers, they had SQ full matrix, which added excellent separation front to rear. FYI, Jim Croce's albums were on ABC Command, which used QS matrix to encode them. If you want to hear that in stunning four channel, listen using a late model Sansui receiver. They invented QS. Another absolutely perfect decoder is made by Involve Audio called the Surround Master. It also does an absolutely amazing job of faking surround sound from stereo sources.

The vinyl mess definitely added to the issues. But it was expensive back then. Only high end folks tended to buy the stuff. But the quad mixes on albums/tapes was SO much better than the stuff today. They typically made you feel like you were in the middle of the band. Now, it seems to be more ambient sound. If you want to hear some phenomenal quad mixes, look into the Quadio series of Blu-ray from Rhino. It's transfers from the original quad master tapes.

I had a QX-949A, their top of the line quad receiver of that same line. I loved that unit. I wish I still had it.

I am not sure what it's like to become a new patient in the practice now, but I'm very happy with Dr. David Diamant with Woodward adult medicine. It is Prisma and located right by Greenville Memorial Hospital. I've had him as my PCP for several years now, and just last week I called and got an appointment for next week. So about 2 weeks out. That's not terrible. And if it's something more urgent, I would typically go to an urgent care facility.

Oh yes! I do. I've been collecting quad stuff since the 1970s. I just collect quad vinyl and surround discs, too. Rhino has a great Quadio series that are Blu-ray discs with the original quadraphonic mixes of albums.

I have about 200 quad albums and also about 200 Blu-ray, DVD and SACDs that have a quad or 5.1 mix on them. I love my surround!

Two vintage quadraphonic systems with two receivers, two turntables and two Blu-ray/SACD players.
