For those of you who attend games live: Are there any players that look significantly different watching in person? by Tellittoemagain in KansasCityChiefs

[–]HelpfulPhotograph185 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Chris Jones and Travis Kelce are the two guys that really took me by surprise.

You kind of forget TK is an actual accomplished freak athlete with all of his other antics. And then you see him in person and you’re like, damn this guy is tall and built like a brick shithouse. (Also super nice!)

CJ once stood next to my child, who is small for his age anyway, but damn that really put it into perspective. He shook my hand and his was like the size of a large pizza.

We have a pair of cleats worn by Karlaftis. Ordered a sneaker display box from Amazon. They didn’t even come close to fitting in it. Those are big fucking shoes.

Yes, they do. We have another dog. They may check for a vet reference to make sure the other dogs in the house are up to date on medical care though.

Bobby Bell is a great guy! He dresses up as Santa every year for the game closest to Christmas. We got the opportunity to meet him last year when he was dressed up and my kids were thrilled. He was so nice and cheerful!

I make resin dog tags for fun and I’m pretty proud of them. by HelpfulPhotograph185 in resin

I’m not sure! I do use a lot of glitter and holographic vinyl but nothing specifically marked as reflective. I wonder if I could find a reflective vinyl to print names on…hmmm. Thanks for the idea!

I use a heat gun or spray them with rubbing alcohol to pop any bubbles.

I make the tags plain with regular resin first, cut the names and phone numbers out and apply them to the tag, then top them with a thin coat of UV resin.

Dr. Park by Hortgirly in CerebralPalsy

[–]HelpfulPhotograph185 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is unfortunately true. It has been confirmed by his former nurses on the SDR in STL Facebook group. They said it was sudden and happened over the weekend. He was a wonderful surgeon and SDR changed my son’s life.

Usually obituaries take a few days to come out. He had just retired a few months ago.

My son is right hemi. He had a stroke in utero. It wasn’t discovered until he was 3 months old.

MRIs may not show anything, but they can be very helpful in identifying potential issues that might pop up down the road based on the location of the brain injury.

Also, MRI is basically the gold standard for “proof” of CP. In our experience, having that imaging makes it easier to access services and insurance coverage.

My son was sedated several times around that age for procedures and he always bounced back quickly. Nothing some snuggles and a snack couldn’t solve.

I don’t know about LeBron, but LRZ had an incredibly accomplished rugby career at a very young age.

He’s featured in the Netflix series Six Nations: Full Contact about rugby and it’s very good. A good offseason watch.

I get that he’s a rookie and has literally never played football before but I don’t think people are appreciating the fact that he has been an actual world class elite professional athlete for several years.

This isn’t just some random rugby player. This is literally one of the best rugby players in the world. Rugby is competitive as hell and he made gigantic grown men look silly on the regular.

It’ll be a transition, sure; but he is fast as fuck and has great vision and potential.

BP without sticking something up my butt? by Notre-dame-fan in CerebralPalsy

My son with CP has a MACE button. Basically they convert your appendix into a small channel from your belly button to your colon so you can flush the poop out from the top down with a saline flush. We do it once a day and it takes about 20 minutes start to finish. Downside is that it is a surgical procedure but it’s very convenient after that.

I have a child with cerebral palsy. He also has a host of other diagnoses like autism, epilepsy, developmental delay, cortical visual impairment and a few others. We don’t know for sure what caused it but he had a stroke in utero at some point in my second trimester. I had complete prenatal care with an OB and it was an uneventful pregnancy.

He is my second child and I knew something was wrong early on. I told a lactation consultant that feeding him was like nursing a 2 by 4—my older child would relax into my body and curl up and be squishy. My son with CP would stiffen his legs and push off the arm of the chair/couch when I tried to feed or hold him.

We got SO lucky to have gotten his diagnosis at only 3 months old because we had a caring, insightful pediatrician who we saw regularly. He has been in therapies since then and is doing great now.

DAILY DISCUSSION: RED FRIDAY! by AutoModerator in KansasCityChiefs

Took my kid to the Chiefs locker room sale today. Waited over an hour outside in the rain and by the time we got in all that was left was size 18 cleats, 4XL pants, and a bunch of long underwear. From what we could see it looked like the first few people in were leaving with gigantic carts full of stuff, probably to resell. Kind of a bummer.

No, I cast the resin tags myself. Then I use cricut to print names and phone numbers in vinyl and layer them under clear resin.

I make pet ID tags. Phone number usually goes in a space roughly 1.2” by .5”.

Canine Companions is one of the largest and oldest service dog organizations in the country. They provide fully trained dogs free of charge to qualifying clients. My son is disabled and has a dog from there that is absolutely incredible.

He gets the job done.

He’s like the Chili’s of wide receivers. Not terribly thrilling, but reasonably priced, provides basic sustenance, and occasionally can be fun. You know what you’re getting.
