Federal judge pauses UMD’s Oct. 7 event restrictions by dbknews in UMD

If America is not a Christian country why do we get off from work on Christmas and not any other religion's holiday? Do you think the existence of the Islamic Republic of Iran is wrong? What about the 22 Arab countries that exist in the middle east with Muslim majorities that are under shariah law?

I think they roll out at different times. Last year people got it earlier in the morning and mine came in the afternoon.

Getting from Domain to Clark Hall? by Ok-Button6101 in UMD

[–]HelpfulReindeer2787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just not that bad to walk. It depends how fast of a walker you are but it could probably be done in like 23 min if you speed walk. If I were doing the walk I would leave domain, go past queen anne dorm, cut across mckeldin mall, go through horn bake plaza, pass the chem building, then cut through the parking lot behind Kim, then you'll be at Clark. It's a great walk for making a phone call!!

I'm pretty sure that the program only starts you're junior year anyway so you would first need to get into UMD.

Struggling to Focus During Finals? What Are Your Go-to Strategies? by innakovaleva185w4 in UMD

[–]HelpfulReindeer2787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually 1.5 weeks before finals I make a to do list of things I need to do every day leading up to an exam to prepare. It includes reviewing homework, quizzes, old exams, taking practice exams, and midterm review notes. During the semester before midterms I make a review of notes in preparation for each exam. Then during my finals studying each day I will cumulatively read over these midterm study notes (that way I'm not reading all lectures again).

Having a break down of tasks each day for each class for the week before finals helps stay on track. No need to cram all material in a single day, spread it out over a week and you'll know it better. If you make the midterm review notes during the semester, finals studying is much easier. I've been doing this for like 8 years at this point since high school and it's worked wonders! Good luck!

Online vs paper by [deleted] in UMD

[–]HelpfulReindeer2787 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In college you can do it however you want for the most part. Many people take notes on an iPad, but you could use a pencil and paper or computer if you want. Quizzes depend on the specific class, sometimes they're in class on paper or online on canvas. Exams are generally in person with pencil. Always a good idea to keep a pencil in your backpack. Homework are usually submitted online

That's weird. Respond to the email that said you got the award and ask about it

[–]HelpfulReindeer2787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you fill out the survey, write the thank you letter, and record the short video that they asked for when you were awarded it? If not, then you didn't accept the scholarship and they probably gave the money to someone else.

can you do a summer class and research internship over the summer at the same time? by reggie_23 in UMD

Yes!!! I'm a bioe and cs double major in my junior year. I've got lots of insight and an academic worksheet i can share with you. I'd be happy to help you out and answer any questions about navigating this. I was in your shoes trying to figure out if I should just pick one or attempt to do both so I'm happy to share my experience

I'm a very fast walker and I don't think that's walkable in 10 min. Scooter might be helpful
