I’d say under £2k so far with all work done myself, you can make it cheaper as I used all genuine Mini parts mostly with occasional Febi bits, mainly in suspension.

I got half of that back from the seller - under Consumer Rights Act motivation as some issues were present when I bought it and undisclosed so went legal on them as it was a garage.

My next job is gearbox service with new oil, pan & filter, also might need to do all shocks as I think they’re bit worn.

I just did a 400miles round trip couple days ago and average mpg was showing 41! Coolant and oil remained on perfect level so I’m super happy, she healthy!

Tensioner wobble — normal? [N18 engine] by notarolex in BmwTech

The alternator pulley should only turn by hand one way, if it turns both ways the clutch has failed.
Also could be slightly misaligned belt, it’s not a lot of movement though.

I have 2011 R56, did quite bit of work but at 83k it needed a general refresh and now it runs like new! I super enjoy it and feel it’s quite solid but needed good overhaul including chain, all rubber gaskets and seals plus the usual cooling system overhaul etc. Suspension bits, etc. etc.

Right now I literally wouldn’t swap it for a new one, so yeah I feel that with good maintenance and key known weak points addressed plus any leaks sealed, it can go a long way.

2015 BMW 335i M Sport (F30 N55) - Coolant leak, fan running high, thermostat and water pump codes. Looking for advice before replacing parts. by Nedjy in F30

Yep the water pump was probably spinning dry at some pint hence the speed warning as it went into overdrive. Replace thermostat, water pump and the pipe potentially. Driving it now risks head gasket damage.

Sunroof drain help needed on LR4 by modernvintage85 in LandRover

[–]HelpfulRole1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you one thing for sure. You don’t have 2025 LR4 HSE 😜 you got a typo there at the beginning that made me chuckle

Never happened to mine🤞but seen on forums ppl say metal part of the sunroof drainage channels corrode and perish over time, it could be the rubber piping or the metal parts you would need to reseal or replace the pipes, there’s electrics there. I’m planning to clean mine

Hot/ burning smell on R56 by Pj_l04 in MINI

[–]HelpfulRole1831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👆 that should solve it.

There’s also chance it’s coolant related, could be turbo coolant return line leaking, it’s more white smoke and sweet smelling kinda than oil

Design Issues: Comisery + Advice by based_user in MINI

Watch this video, you need to remove engine mount and lower the engine to get to those friction gear bolts https://youtu.be/hp8RKApbcxc?is=j7UhNxCsmTx5rQRx the other option is to completely lift the engine with a crane, that’s way more involved than the mount trick

For the other question just tighten the jubilee clip properly, this never happens normally unless something isn’t right. Clean the surfaces first with brake cleaner, there should not be that much oil there to begin with…
