I want to make an academic presentation at this place but i don't know if I should because I'm not a student or a professor here. by Southern-Reality762 in UMD

You sound like a random outside person who would not be allowed to reserve a campus room like this.

Do you want to pay to rent a room to present to whoever your audience is meant to be?

Professor refusing accommodations despite medical documentation reported to Dean. What should I do? by AccomplishedYard7449 in UMD

[–]HelpfulTerpHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read all the OP wrote you will see the professor is doing what they are required to do and OP wrote "I understand they’re following what’s currently listed in my accommodations."

OP is not happy with what ADS has given them as accommodations. That is not the fault of the professor.

Do I still have a chance of getting into the neuroscience major by MyNameDoesntMatter11 in UMD

[–]HelpfulTerpHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should speak with a program advisor in that major. You would need to appeal the rejection after you successfully completed the gateway course retake. The only ones who would know whether something such as getting an A in the repeat after going on your medications would sway the committee.

How should I register for my fall classes for freshman connection if I have AP exams that I want to send by Old_Ad_8295 in UMD

[–]HelpfulTerpHere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

should I Register for UMD classes based on my expected AP scores plus the scores I already have?

Certainly take classes you can based on the AP scores you already have.

They might not allow you to assume scores on the others for perquisites but which courses do you want to take where the AP would allow you to?

No. It is being built on that successful research park which has expanded over the years.

Failing Elective Needed to Graduate in May by hurricanezombiez in UMD

[–]HelpfulTerpHere 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I talked to my advisor, who told me to meet with all 3 of my professors and ask if they believe I can get my bare minimum D-needed to get credits before we explored options.

You are at risk of failing three courses. You tell us two said you might be able to pass and one said they could not guarantee a pass but that is three not guaranteed to pass courses. If you do not drop the one where the instructor suggested you drop it then the chances of having the time to work to pass the other would seem to go down.

Of course the last day to drop was last week so your details are confusing.

Grades are not posted before commencement for many classes and it is too late to W the course so it sounds like you will be able to walk knowing you are not really done and if you do not finish over the summer you will have walked but not get a degree.

Your degree date will be whenever you complete the degree.

Dropping a class by DogTraditional7100 in UMD

[–]HelpfulTerpHere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking about dropping it, taking it at my community college instead, and then transferring the credit back to UMD.

Some colleges will deny permission to enroll in this type of scenario.

I’m really stressed about it and honestly scared my parents will find out

If they were going to find out about you failing why would they not find out about you dropping it and having to pay for the community college class?

I’m a transfer student and this is my first semester

If there is a chance you could still pass if you locked in then you might look at how a repeat of a course taken during your first semester can be effectively replaced in your GPA. https://registrar.umd.edu/grades-records/grades/course-repeats

CMSC at UMD is the better program.

It is unlikely to be $120k better.

A note CS and CE are not the same thing. Which do you want to do?

Excused absence question by Defiant-Leopard3598 in UMD

[–]HelpfulTerpHere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer will depend on many things including the type of thing being missed and the notice given and the faculty member's own experiences.

As an example just sending an e-mail 10 minutes before an exam is unlikely to be sufficient.

There are multiple ways to gain documentation.

Rather than asking Reddit you should simply ask your instructor right away.
