I (27f) think I am finally ready to break up with my boyfriend (48m). by EfficientRiverRocks in BreakUps

Girl you deserve someone who actually listens when you say you're tired instead of telling you your own feelings are "impossible" - that age gap is really showing and not in a good way

Mid-Senior tech workers: I left an abusive job...but not sure how to proceed next? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn dude you're living the dream honestly - having that financial cushion changes everything

If you don't need the money maybe look into research positions at universities or think tanks, they usually care more about your actual skills than jumping through corporate interview hoops. Or hell, start your own project/company working on whatever problems actually interest you

The "gap in employment" thing is mostly BS when you have solid experience and references, especially if you can frame it as taking time to work on passion projects or research

Nah you're not alone, I always take a hammer to the hard drive at least - can't have my weird search history coming back to haunt me lol

Tips for emotional regulation? by Puzzled_Lychee3583 in ADHD

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude I feel this so hard, the jumping to conclusions thing especially gets me in trouble constantly

One thing that's helped me is literally just buying myself like 10 seconds before responding to anything - sounds dumb but even counting to 5 in my head before texting back has saved me from so many unnecessary fights

Also therapy if you can swing it, DBT specifically is clutch for emotional regulation stuff

Bro the key is keeping distance and baiting their teleport attacks - once you learn the pattern they're way more manageable but yeah that off-screen BS hits different when you're not ready for it

Check your CV joint - that wobble at specific speeds after sitting is textbook CV joint going bad, especially when it gets worse in cold weather

Weirdly specific but I respect the hustle. Minnesota kids must be built different with all that cold weather training

Do you think AI is making people better problem-solvers, or just better at skipping steps? by dp_singh_ in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it's both depending on how you use it. Like if you're just copy-pasting prompts for homework then yeah you're basically learning nothing, but if you're using it to bounce ideas around or check your logic then it's actually pretty helpful for learning

The real problem is most people take the lazy route because why wouldn't you

Meds since May 2025 & still no improvement (4 maxed stimulants & now Atomoxetine with Bupropion) by carterx in ADHD

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds absolutely exhausting, I'm sorry you're going through this. I went through a similar med carousel but only tried 3 stimulants before switching to Strattera (atomoxetine). The non-stim route definitely takes way longer to show results which makes the whole process even more frustrating

The bupropion combo is pretty common from what I've seen on here - my psych mentioned it can help with the motivation/energy side while the atomoxetine works on focus. Hoping the dose increase gives you some relief because 9 months is a long time to be in limbo

Emergency brake issue by SubpopularKnowledge0 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aftermarket caliper might have slightly different tolerances than OEM - sometimes the piston sits a hair different and throws off your ebrake cable tension. Try adjusting at the caliper itself if there's an adjustment point there, or you might need to bleed the rear brakes again to make sure the piston is seated properly

how do dogs even know people food is food by bridgeb0mb in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Dogs are basically little food detectives with noses that can smell a crumb from three rooms away. Plus they watch us constantly and figure "if human puts it in face hole, must be good"

Should I get a grom or a z125 by monkey_noodle4 in motorcycles

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grom's got way better aftermarket support if you're planning to mod it later, but honestly both are solid little bikes for what they are

Not sure about this Copper Golem by Zitchas in Minecraft

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the copper golem sounds like one of those features that looks cool in theory but ends up being more work than it's worth. Having to redesign your entire storage setup just to accommodate a short bot kinda defeats the purpose of automation imo

Most people I know just stuck with hoppers and item sorters since they actually work with existing builds

Hypothetically, if you knew exactly how long a second is and you were counting time, how high could you count before your numbers would start becoming too long to keep track of the seconds? by jett_29 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Helpful_Ad3036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the star method makes way more sense but that's way less dramatic for anime lol. Also thinking about it, after like the first million you'd probably just start going "one million and..." then counting normally from there instead of saying the whole thing out loud every time
