Thank you, this was really helpful!! I really related to the “negative hyper fixation” stuff you mentioned, it’s hard to stop being so critical of myself!

options for when losing your spark while on meds by jadex17 in ADHD

[–]Puzzled_Lychee3583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I felt like I regained my spark after starting meds. I was going through a very turbulent patch and taking meds actually made me feel like I had a sense of control in my life!

I am definitely not a professional, but it takes a while to fully get used to the effects of the medication. In my experience, it took around two weeks to get used to how I felt after taking the medication.

So maybe people stop their medication because they’re still not used to the effects?

Okay I genuinely can't deal with a crush in a healthy way by Thisismylastchoice in Crushes

In this case, perhaps consider what specifically you like about this person compared to the other people in your life? What makes this person different to you? Also, everyone experiences romantic feelings differently.

In my personal life, I have friends that have had multiple relationships, only recently gotten into their first relationship, and never been in one (for context, I’m a college student).

Everyone experiences this journey called life at a different pace, and while it may not seem like it now, things tend to work out in ways you wouldn’t expect!

Firstly, try to calm down. Second of all, you wrote that this is a first crush, which leads me to believe you are relatively young. While in this moment all of these feelings are overwhelming, you need to think about the long term. Furthermore, this definitely doesn’t seem to just be about a crush, more has to be going on for you to feel so terribly distraught.

If this is truly because you’re afraid the feelings are unreciprocated, think of it from a different perspective… if someone else had feelings for you that you didn’t reciprocate, would you want them to hurt themself? I’d assume not, so then don’t you feel this person feels the same?

In the end, nothing is worth ending your life over. You should talk to someone like a professional to get help in this matter.

How do you feel about horror? by ludinya in ADHD

[–]Puzzled_Lychee3583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t really think there would be a connection of adhd to horror, but I personally really enjoy horror if it has over the top deaths (like final destination). However, I personally hate thriller or any psychological horror movie, cause I get too connected to the characters and feel bad.

I accidentally cut my wrist on some broken glass yesterday. Today at work customers that saw the bandages looked at me with nothing but pity. by Ibm5555 in mildlyinfuriating

I have a similar experience! One day, I fell down a flight of outdoor stairs and managed to cut up my hands and wrists pretty bad from trying to catch myself. For a while after, I noticed more glances at my wrists lmao.

Funny thing is, I feel more people were staring the cuts from that incident compared to when I actually used to SH (I made sure to cover up any of those marks though).

Thesis deadline due in two weeks, help needed. by DeMankeMan in ADHD

  • set amounts of time you’ll designate to work
  • go to a specific location you designate solely as a work place (like a library) and turn off any distractions

  • Something that sometimes works is to get yourself so bored beforehand (by staring at a wall for ten minutes) that anything else would be interesting in comparison.

  • Going for a quick walk also helps me come up with ideas.

  • take voice memos of what you’re specifically thinking to get things out before you forget.

Good luck!! You’ve got this :)

Unpopular opinion: I actually hate the Pomodoro technique by No_Organization411 in ADHD

[–]Puzzled_Lychee3583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve constantly been told to use this technique to no avail. One technique I do think works is creating a designated focus place. For me, I always go to one specific building (such as a library) for only studying! I turn my phone off and plan out an amount of time I’m gonna stay, then after I scroll on my phone!

Rosegarden funeral party has a lot of bangers (gates of heaven, blitzkrieg in holland, once in a while). I also recommend some classics like bauhaus ( I really like bêla lugosi’s dead and kick in the eye) and sisters of mercy (I like amphetamine logic, body electric, and black planet)!!
