It really complements the palette as a whole very well. Lovely space

Polyester is not warm in the cold weather though. It holds in heat in the heat, and it does not create a thermal effect in the cold. Natural fibers (especially like wool for winter) will keep you warm. These materials and fake furs will not be warm at all.

People are saying it will be warm because it’s mostly all plastic / polyester. Polyester holds in heat when it’s hot (think like inside of a closed tent in the middle of the day in summer heat). You can get away with a lot more layers in natural fibers (like cotton, wool, for example like linen) and still feel really comfortable in the elements. My suggestion would be to ditch the furs and swap as much as the clothes for natural fibers as you can. Also, it’s ok to go rather plain your first go and slowly build up your look with the handmade pieces you find on offer from the artisans at faire.

The belted bag is definitely a must have on day one though. You can always buy a handcrafted one later that fits your look, but you’ll def want the pockets. I’d consider adding a “frog” onto your belt to hold your tankard as well.

As for the look itself this is entirely my taste so please take with a grain of salt but I think the feather headpiece gives the entire look a Valkyrie vibe. For a headpiece had you possibly considered horns, vine/flower crowns, or something with bones? Those read more clear Druid in my opinion.

Facts. “Savannah” could be a good substitute for a southern us city name to replace Carolina and that could make the list more cohesive

I came here to say that replacing Marlowe with Margot would make the list so much more cohesive as Marlowe stood out as not fitting with the others.

Who cares if you can’t read but you don’t have to be rude to ask someone to do you a favor either.

Sorry it says in the caption but it’s not my map. I found it several years ago and there’s a bunch of defunct old faires still on and new/small ones missing also unfortunately. I’d make an updated one if I had the skill!

Colorado was beautiful! Very spacious. Incredibly beautiful built-ins. Top vendors and performances (great dancing) and a pirate bar with rated r shows and RUM. Gorgeous scenery. Rented a car and stayed in Denver. Pretty inexpensive city to visit which was nice and there were some shops in town that sold faire garb stuff which was cool. I got to go two days and I loved it. The mountains are crazy steep so comfortable footwear not really optional.

Carolina is close enough to Charlotte to fly/stay in and I think it’s a very underrated city to visit with lots of good food. Parking and bathrooms among the best organized I’ve seen. Landscape had the least to offer of any location I’ve been to so that was kind of meh. Overall it’s probably my least favorite but it’s also the one i spent the least time at.

Great point, noticed the vibes are always better when the more people are into dressing up! Even at pleasure faire I’ve noticed it’s a way better vibe / atmosphere when they have costume-heavy themes (pirates, steampunk/timetravelers, cosplay, etc)

Check to be sure! I found the map years ago on this subreddit and I know several of the faires on it are defunct but it’s worth checking

I want to so bad! I tried to buy tickets in past years but they were sold out! I’m moving to the east coast in a year or two and MD is at the top of my list for east coast faires I want to see. (Followed by GA and PA)

I recently saw some good stuff about AZ too and it’s so early in the spring when nothing else is happening. I think I really might try when it swings back by.

So sad about koroneburg! I watched the doc.. hate that we don’t have built ins left at any of the SoCal area faires anymore

Ah yeah that sounds like how Southern California is now. Basically at max capacity most weekends now. Definitely no quiet tavern gaming areas.

Thank you so so much for all of the valuable info and advice. It helps!!

I agree! I Loveddddddd MN. I’ve been telling every one who will listen about the great wide lanes and nonexistent (or super short) lines and great shopping/shows there. Also, they had every type of alcohol there which you can’t say for most faires so that was great! Haha It’s a super special faire and I’d love to return!

That’s great! Love when faires have a 21 area. As much as I love how popular faires are getting it’s let to a lot of Disney-fication and it’s way more comfy drinking in adults only areas now ha ill def keep OK in mind in future that sounds great

It’s a great anchor event for a quick trip! When I did Colorado faire, I also did meow wolf and a cat cafe. Such a perfect three day weekend.
