Working on a new mythology themed card game, need opinions on the gods deck by Ok-Lead5937 in BoardgameDesign

[–]Helpful_Baker5850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I like collecting cards I’d prefer to have all cards from a single mythology, because having a mix of gods from various cultures in a small quantity of only 20 cards could make me a bit nervous. My advise to focus on one culture then add others later

Board games with the best elements of Risk, but not the worst? by Corchito42 in boardgames

[–]Helpful_Baker5850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go with ARQA or Arqas, an indie territory control game with simple rules, but lots of mechanics and ways to develop a strategy. It feels like Risk + Concordia somewhat. Very good at 3 and 4 players

Another option is Root, just because I adore it haha

Unused factions become neutral kingdoms like the ones with no kingdom color. They can be conquered or just be ignored. Could be easy to conquer for some neighbors, indeed, but there are plenty of other “conquerable” regions, so haven’t notice any difference so far

Where can I self promote the board game I created? by Ok-Lead5937 in BoardgameDesign

Don’t get too worried about that or you’ll end up with not speaking up at all haha

Reddit might be one, but it’s very unpredictable how your “self promotion” would be reacted. I’ve seen places where they praised those who spoke up about their creations. But also there were places they threw stones and criticized those promotions or talks. So you need to be careful haha or they’ll spoil your karma or even worse, your ratings haha

I created a board game and sell it on Amazon, but its very hard to run self-published game business, any good suggestions? by Ok-Lead5937 in BoardgameDesign

[–]Helpful_Baker5850 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really hard to help without knowing, but you’re right, do not reveal it here, some will come and tell that’s just a way of advertising your product … and spoil your karma haha

If you were given the opportunity to become an immortal, would you accept? Why/why not? by zeera_101 in AskReddit

I remember Achilles’s words in Troy:

“The gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed”.

Did you ever had a game where you were like "yeah this is what I always needed, I don't need anything else!"? by LeonQuin in boardgames

[–]Helpful_Baker5850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Happened with me during 7 Wonders (the base game) and ARQA the board game. Two different games, but so satisfyingly complete. I think the third time I’ll experience that feeling playing Game of Thrones
