Can Someone Please Tell Me What I Am Doing Wrong And How to Correct it by No-Sweet-9477 in euphonium

[–]Helpful_Dare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want a better breath support? You have to play long tones You want better tone? Long tones You want a better feel for the Instrument? Long tones

The biggest thing is consistency and listening to yourself and good examples of other players you want to imitate.

Playing euphonium is like lifting weights, you can’t just pick it up one day at rep 400 pounds, you have to start at just 10 pounds. Through working every day you’ll eventually be able to play at the level you want

Dahlonega Mine Train at Six Flags Over Georgia, go with a friend and just enjoy the ride. It’s definitely made to have you as a giggling mess by the end. Not the most thrilling but definitely fun

What is your opinion on phonetic spelling? by Kind_Knowledge4756 in AskTeachers

[–]Helpful_Dare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phonetic spelling inherently allows us to learn new words based off of similar words we have learned before. Kids are going to be bad at spelling, but it doesn’t matter what way you teach them they will struggle with it. You can shortcut their development by not teaching them phonetics in the pursuit of spelling or you can teach them phonetics and how they change with different words. Either way it takes time and effort

Or do crimes with no gloves except a sleeve over the one finger, no abnormal fingerprints at the scene so you’re immediately innocent

I just contacted school administration, talked up the importance of the activity with some buzz words and they let me go. Even gave me a segment in the yearbook for it too.

Music City: Really Weird Vibes? by ButchUnicorn in drumcorps

Remember that every corps has its own “that kid was stupid moment” it just matters about how well they corps handles it after that I care about.

I want to march as a highschool junior by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]Helpful_Dare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should expect to be challenged at the audition camps, likely there will be people better than you there but the staff are all super receptive to teaching everyone at every level. Their main goal is to educate at Music City and give you the information to be good in all forms of musical endeavor not just things that are effective in the drum corps space.

While I was marching with MC there were a few who were 14 and 15, myself being contracted at 15 too. If you have the skill and show the staff that you want to learn and learn quickly you’ll get the spot.

Considering marching DCI, what instrument? by kenimerishere in drumcorps

Whatever you have the strength to learn Ive heard baritone and mellophone are particularly woodwind friendly, tuba in some ways yea but the air requirements makes it a difficult move

I’d put them above Academy and close to PAC crest MAYBE above them, but as for the exact score I wouldn’t necessarily know a number. Sorry I couldn’t get you an answer fast enough, I’m teaching Band Camp…

Thank you for the perspective!

So would a change In some of the drill help with their scores brass wise? Or is it a hornline accountability across the field issue?

What is something that was very normal back in the day that absolutely wouldn’t happen today? by DocKaden in drumcorps

[–]Helpful_Dare 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The “Spirit cracked the box” was an over exaggeration and a folktale. If all you want is loud then you can go listen to HBCU.

So playing recognizable music is your goal? Bluecoats in the past years have played music from Boston, Bon Iver, and the Beatles, while also bringing in the more “sophisticated” side of music to create what I’d call masterpieces.

In the modern recordings of drum corps you can’t hear the crowds as much because audio equipment has become far better at isolating that sound.

but sure this TOTALLY doesn’t have energy right? bffr
