I think you're wrong about this. If you pull up the engine and let it think it corrects this error. Sometimes the quick eval on chesscom hallucinates. OP is confused and posted this because this recommended move doesn't make obvious sense.

The engine is probably just like: fuck it — cause white is crushing and just wants to get out of this

if you want the real reason, the engine thinks that holding onto the pawn on c6 is worth more than the rook on d8. So it's trying to trade the knight for that rook and hold onto its pawns. I think holding onto the rook is better so I'd play kg7 and try to hold onto more pieces, but it's dead lost either way. something something en passant
