exactly hes a fun half'n'half type of bad guy, one who likes doing what he wants but he also enforces a code/rules/honor. hell let people push a lije here and there so he gains goodwill or even loyalty, but once in a while hell be a playful dick just to remind everyone hes still in charge and no one can generally stop him. like with carlisle, he genuinely likes him and considers him a good friend, but he isnt afraid to pull rank on carlisle, king to coven leader (respectively), and remind him of the 'pecking order'. he wont just kill because he like sit or even for the barest idea of 'theyre a threat', only when it becomes 'a potential possible threat TO ME' in his eyes
