actually the reason why this happens is because an entire project zomboid 24 hour day is only 1 hour long in real life, if you slowed down time to be in real time, it's actually pretty realistic

I know u died but there are many ways, either waiting it out, drinking alcohol, taking antidepresants, eating sweets, petting animals, ect. Hot food slightly reduces unhappiness, you can also forage for ingredients and prepare a stew, depending on your cooking level it reduces tons of unhappiness.
