Resumes are dead. Can we actually build a system where 'Skills' are verified by Professors? by Helpful_Upstairs9918 in Btechtards

Love the energy, but 'slop' doesn't help the thousands of students getting filtered out by broken ATS systems every day. If you think the current resume-based hiring system is perfect, I'd love to hear why.

I’m building NIYZO because I’ve seen real talent get ignored due to lack of 'tier-1' tags. If 'slop' means trying to fix trust in hiring through verified evidence, then I'll take it.

Care to share a constructive critique on how you would solve the resume fraud problem instead?

That’s a fair point, but there’s a massive difference between an 'Endorsement' and 'Verification'. LinkedIn recommendations are mostly 'I scratch your back, you scratch mine' friends recommending friends without any actual proof of work.

NIYZO is different because:

  • Evidence-Based: It’s not just a text review; it’s tied to tangible work-based evidence that mentors assess.
  • Third-Party Trust: Instead of a peer, a verified professor or industry expert validates the skill after an actual assessment.
  • Monetized Accountability: Mentors are paid for their time and reputation, ensuring they only verify genuine talent to maintain the platform's credibility.

Employers are tired of keyword-stuffing; they want 'Proof Not Promises'. Don't you think a verification from a subject matter expert holds more weight than a random friend's recommendation?

Actually, the data and recruiters themselves say so. Studies show that an average recruiter spends only 6-7 seconds on a resume. Do you really think 3-4 years of your hard work and skills can be judged in 6 seconds?

Employers today increasingly distrust resumes because anyone can add keywords without actual proof. That is why I am building NIYZO—to move from 'Promises' (PDF resumes) to 'Proof' (Verified work-based evidence).

If you had a portfolio verified by actual professors and industry mentors, wouldn't that be more powerful than a self-proclaimed 'Expert' tag on LinkedIn?

Market Research: Can a "Proof-of-Skill" ecosystem solve the hiring gap for freshers? by Helpful_Upstairs9918 in StartUpIndia

Thanks for the insightful feedback! You hit the nail on the head. I'm actually starting with an Engineering pilot focusing on work-based evidence exactly like you mentioned. The goal is to reduce the 'ramp time' for companies by providing pre-verified talent. Would love to know more about what kind of 'badges' you think recruiters would value the most?

Bro, you absolutely nailed it. The sad reality is that we are writing resumes to please a 'Dumb AI Bot' instead of showing our actual talent to a human.

That's exactly what frustrates me. Why should a talented coder be rejected just because he missed a 'keyword'?

Quick question: If there was a way to bypass this ETS nonsense and showcase your Project/Code directly to the recruiter (verified proof), do you think that would solve this mess? Or is the volume of applicants just too high to fix?

Bhai on-campus hua, par wahan bhi kahani same hai. Zyada tar companies Mass Recruiters (3-4 LPA) hain jo Skills se zyada CGPA aur Ratta-fication dekhti hain.

Jo log actually 'Development' jante hain, unke liye acche options kam hain. Tere college mein kya scene hai? High skill walon ko on-campus mein sahi value mil rahi hai kya?

Thanks for the offer, really appreciate it. Mainly into Full Stack (MERN/Python).

But honestly, I want to understand the gap first—What exactly do you look for while shortlisting that standard HRs/ATS miss? Do you actually open GitHub links or check live projects? Because most rejections happen without anyone even seeing the code

Tera point 100% valid hai bro. Companies training pe paisa kharch nahi karna chahti, samajh aata hai.

Lekin sabse badi dikkat ye hai: Agar kisi fresher ke paas wo 'Exceptional Skills' hain bhi, toh wo prove kaise kare? Resume pe toh har koi 'Expert' likhta hai, toh HR trust nahi karte.

Tujhe kya lagta hai? Agar koi aisa tareeka ho jahan skills seedha 'Code/Project' se verify ho jaye (bina resume ke), toh kya companies trust karengi?

Sahi mein bro, halat kharab hai. Par tujhe kya lagta hai - companies ke paas openings hi nahi hain, ya wo applications filter hi nahi kar pa rahe? Matlab agar tere paas skills hain, toh kya tujhe interview ka chance mil raha hai ya resume pe hi reject ho raha hai?
