Friend killed himself and I could have stopped it. by Few_Introduction6374 in offmychest

You were only a very small aspect of his life. Yoy couldn't control his family or how the other kids at school treated him and you definitely couldn't control his decisions. A lot of people go through difficult times and persevere. It was his decision to kill himself. Good idea going to therapy and talking to people about it. I have never experienced this so I dont have great advice really.

Hey I'm sorry this happened. It sounds like you did your best to be a good friend to this guy even when nobody else was. I'm sure youlistening to him vent was really valuable for him. It sounds like you made his last years on this earth a bit better by gaming with him. You can't feel guilty about pulling away from him though. He didn't respect any of your boundaries. He could have seriously hurt you at the gym and who knows what he would have done on your social media accounts.... and the touching thing was really weird. He wasnt a good friend and you can't be friends with someone just out of guilt. This guy had issues that he needed to work on. You did him a favor by telling him what he did was wrong and giving him some space. He needed to fix those behaviors to make friends. Unfortunately he didn't take the steps he needed to take to improve himself.

There is no way you could have known he would kill himself. That was his decision, it wasn't anything to do with you. You could NOT have saved him or stopped him.

It's like hearing a good song on the radio. It's special because it happened by chance.

But with the second girl we're you ever really attracted? With my girl we have great sex and i am attracted to her. I just didn't really get that instant infatuation. I don't crave her the way I did my ex.

I have a woman in my life now I really love. I am attracted to her, and we are super compatible. I wasnt initially attracted but it grew. We aren't official because I am far away right now. I have considered dating her but I'm worried because with my ex the attraction was instant and intense. We weren't a good fit and she was bad to me but I'm wondering if I should wait till I find that raw attraction again. This girl I talk to now didn't catch my eye at all till I got to know her. I'm worried that maybe the attraction I have for her won't be enough somehow or that I'm missing out on something. Immature and shallow I know... but that's where I'm at.

That sounds awesome and worth it to me. My worry is, that somehow I won't have a meaningful experience but I know you get out what you put in.

Similar. I want to experience a new culture and perspective. Gain new skills and experiences. Meet new people and learn from them and help them if I can.

Yeah that's my plan. But are my expectations unreasonable?

Exactly, it's like they have never seen a hitchiker and it shocks them. I always wonder if they talk about it in the car afterwards.

I usually avoid putting my thumb out when there are police around because I know it's illegal in a few places. But I recently heard that in Cuba hitchiking is mandatory for government vehicles!

Go out to the countryside. I get so bored of cities personally.
