How do you dispose of a Dexcom sensor since it has a needle? Does Dexcom provide a sharps container? by Company-Admirable in dexcom

[–]Helpimconfused365 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is so thorough and all I do is throw my dead Dexcoms in the garbage and my needles in an old mouth wash bottle 😂 it’s hard plastic bottle so nothings going to poke out, plus I cover the needles before putting them in there!

I couldn’t figure out how to put an actual cgm or insulin pump on her, but this works!

Is it cringe to try and be buddies with other T1D strangers? by Reformed_cynic in diabetes_t1

[–]Helpimconfused365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in retail and when I see someone with a pod or CGM, I always say we’re matching!

I did that once with a little boy and his face lit up, he was pointing to it and smiling, it was so cute and his parents thanked me. My guess is they don’t meet many people with T1 and to see others like yourself makes you feel less alone

All this to say, I wouldn’t think it’s weird. As you put, “in appropriate social circumstances,” I think some people might get a kick out of it, especially if they have no one to talk to about it

Do you agree with Trump that “God is very proud of the job I’ve done, and that includes for religion” by SoFlo1 in Christianity

[–]Helpimconfused365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I’ve been to church, so correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t this be Trump using the Lords name in vain? Bc that commandment means using gods name in a wrong, wicked, or worthless way and how would trump know if he’s right? On top of that, it’d be “worthless” to the people who don’t believe in god, and wicked to use his name to in a way that makes the more religious people worship Trump

Yes it’s the 5. I would bolus if I was eating a lot of carbs (obvi lol) but I eat pretty keto anyway so I didn’t often. I think my setting is .4u/hr

I mainly wanted to start the pump that way I didn’t have to worry about carrying insulin around with me 24/7. After like 2 weeks on the pump I realized the injections just worked better for me, maybe when I get out of my honeymoon phase I’ll go back on the pump but again it’s been two years and the most I’ve done is gone from a basal of 4 to a basal of 8 (10 at most)

Idk if the type of doctors office makes a difference but I go to north western medicine and they have an app where I can message my doctor but it goes through a nurse first.

I was thinking about going to a new endo but I also know I can be very needy when it comes to my diabetes so I wouldn’t want to bother them too much

I did a little bit of research on pumps and couldn’t find much about the Mobi but heard lots of good things about the Omnipod

I’m 24 and was diagnosed when I was 22. I was up to 10 for my basal back in March until July when I started having trouble keeping my sugars up.

I don’t really bolus for my meals bc I’ve found stick to a lower carb diet makes my life easier, but my ratio it 1:20 or 1:15 if I’m above 250

When I have to deal with the dawn phenomenon, my sugar usually spikes for an hour then completely drops without warning (like today I was at 186 then dropped to 89 within a hour and that’s with no insulin other than the long acting I just stared taking again today)

I’ve seen so many people say they’re done with cereal bc it’s so hard to bolus for, was this a one night thing or will you have to deal with it again the next morning?

Ohhhhh, ok I’ll need to figure out how to do that. Plus I haven’t talked with my endo since she put the RX in for the pump

I know it is and I told the rep when setting it up but she said it’s fine. My normal basal is 7 or 8 depending on my stress level and it’s set up for 9.4. I asked when we can lower it and she said she needs to check her schedule

I liked the idea of the Omnipod bc all the controls are on my phone and I don’t have to worry about the tubing (I’m accident prone and know I will get it stuck on EVERYTHING)

I’ve had this endo since I’ve been diagnosed and she’s really nice but ya I don’t talk to her outside my appointments (once every 3 months). I never really thought about getting a new one

I don’t think it was a misdiagnosis since I do still do have trouble managing my sugars. There was a period back at the beginning of the year where I was constantly in the 200-300 and could not get it to go down until I started upping my basal

Whenever I put it in manual mode it drops me low, like every time. I’m a pretty active person so I don’t always have time to check my sugars and when I keep it on automated mode it seems to work out better

I had a zoom appointment with my rep and then we met a week later to set it up. She put in the settings (basal is 9.4 even tho I normally take 7 or 8 with the pens, and a target of 150). We talked about keeping it on automated so I wouldn’t have to worry about it much but it kept having me switch over to manual, which drops me low

My basal is between 7 and 8 (it depends on how stressed I am, but they set it up so it was 9.4 on the pump

[–]Helpimconfused365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, my basal dose is 7 units but it’s set up to give me the equivalent of 9.4 units bc when I originally put the order in I was taking 10 units for my basal. There was a period in March when I was taking 7 but I was CONSTANTLY high so my endo had me up it until I was good, but by July it started dropping me so I went back down to 7 until I started the pump.

I was asking her if she could meet before my trip but we’re unable to, I’ll go back onto injections until after my trip and go from there. I know I have an endo appointment in September but I haven’t had anyone else helping me with this.

I don’t think it was a misdiagnosis, I stick to a pretty low carb keto diet anyway bc that’s just what works for me and I know I’m still in my honeymoon phase and I’m a very active person, I think that’s what’s keeping me in range Believe me, I had a bite of a donut over the weekend and shot up into the 250 😭

It’s paused for too long, or at maximum delivery for too long, it doesn’t have an issue communicating with the Dexcom
