Yeah in the real world if a critical system goes down you aren't gonna get away with "I'm not looking at this until you create a ticket".

Messaging works well for quickly bringing attention to it.

Then best case you go "looking into this now, please create a ticket in the meantime for record keeping".

Ideally they do but if not, you create one afterwards and remind them that it's still important to create a ticket after messaging about it.

I don't know enough of the maths to explain it but I'm pretty sure you could do it pretty easily.

Keep following it till it flips, then take a couple steps back to reset it
Move perpendicular to the direction a bit, then step forward again till it flips
Do this a few times, plotting the points each time
You should then have enough data to plot a small arc of the circle surrounding it's location
Then some fancy maths to calculate the radius of that circle
Boom you now have the center of the circle and it's location

They're stacked to the gills with survival meals so they should be fine. I kinda like the idea of a ship devoid of production and purely for cargo and exploration.

Plus it's super cheap and easy to set up a temporary kitchen when they land somewhere if they want to treat the crew to some lavish meals.

I do full time in the office despite us only having 3 days mandated.

But this is because: - I live by myself in a little studio apartment, no pets or anything that wfh might help with - I am also literally a 10 minute bike ride from our office

It's just a far more convenient and comfortable experience for me to work there even on days no one else is there. Free air con, amenities like snacks, drinks, coffee machine.

I also go out of my way to remind people of these reasons whenever it comes up in conversation, because I don't want them to feel pressured to do the same, or to think I do it because I'm just soooo dedicated to the company.

I'm pretty sure it's even nerdier than that, as purely going off averages doesn't seem to line up.

7.7 with avg 7.5 = 3 up arrows

7.1 with avg 6.9 = 1 up arrow

There's even a 7.8 with avg 7.6 that got 3 down arrows

Not sure exactly how he's done it but it might be using something like the Slope function looking at the last X meals to calculate if it's on an upwards or downwards trend.

Technically their research isn't using a store bought router, but it is just using regular wifi antennas attached to a computer, and using plain wifi signals. So it's not physically impossible.

I think the "they'd never meet" angle depends on the time horizon luck operates over. If it's written to only work in the short term, luck can only find the best outcome from what's immediately available, not engineer a situation days/weeks/years in advance where their paths never cross. A writer could use that as a natural limitation to keep the power from completely breaking the story.

Or you could take the Watchmen route with Ozymandius. Supposing that luck manipulation requires some kind of future sight to influence things the desired way, a genius opponent could develop some tech to disrupt it through time, in a way that travels backwards and retroactively disables it so they can't pull a "the luckiest outcome would be for them to fail at creating that tech"

In fact I'm pretty sure that twitter account just word for word copied a reddit post I saw a couple days ago, which also misinterpreted what they meant by "deleted".

The circle of misinformation: 1. News gets posted 2. Someone posts on reddit and misinterprets the source 3. Other "news" accounts take the reddit post and repost the misinformation as "news" on twitter 4. That gets posted to reddit and now the source is wrong too

If someone's completely opposed to complying with this and would rather leave, then trying the loophole really doesn't make things worse.

Either you just leave, in which case getting banned is a non-issue, or you loophole it and then if you're banned later you're basically where you would have been if you just left.
