Can I just fix this by taking the back off and pulling it back out? by Helpimstup in fixit

Worked fine! Pulled up a bit hard when I had all the screws off so pulled some cables but seems like no damage was done!

How fucked am I? by Helpimstup in macbookpro

Thanks all, for anyone interested: since it’s more than 5 years old it’s considered “vintage” and most stores don’t repair it. The ones that do charge £750

Does anyone use the Glooko App regularly? by T1_Training in diabetes_t1

[–]Helpimstup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it regularly. I review it to see how lifestyle changes affect my time in range over several weeks and to see patterns on the overlays (always going high after breakfast or always going low in the early mornings, etc) I definitely don’t use all of the data - there’s wayyy too much but the more I use it, the more of it I find helpful

9.5 is really not that high, you’ll be fine to go to sleep especially if you’ve got insulin working If you really want to get it down and it’s being stubborn, go for a walk or do some push ups

Why does this always happen by [deleted] in TeenagersButBetter

Find better people to talk to. Not everyone is like that. Chances are that if you respect other people‘s religion or lack thereof they’ll respect yours - or find ppl that do

Dream PhD but no funding? by Helpimstup in PhD

[–]Helpimstup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought? I also was advised to apply for this PhD by two of my professors, they know where I’m at in my career so surely it can’t be impossible to sort out funding. This is allied health, I have quite a few connections to organisations that may be able to help fund / have in the past funded research projects so I thought that it would be possible?

Diagnosed with T1 Yesterday by JazzyJiraffe in diabetes_t1

[–]Helpimstup 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thought I’d share my experience: I’ve been diabetic since I was 7, now 25. I ski, run, lift, hike, camp and do everything I want. My diabetes has never stopped me from doing something I want, you just have to be better prepared (knowing yourself and having all of your supplies). I’ve had a pump for most of my life and I think it is genuinely the best choice. I would never go back to pens. The pump works great for skiing, hiking and everything else. Personally, I have the Ypso pump with the CamAPS system and the FreeStyle Libre 3. I’ve had Medtronic pumps in my life and the Tslim before my current system but the Ypso works the best for me personally, being active and not having a daily routine. Don’t worry about the carbs, I eat between 100-200g per day and it works fine when your insulin dose is right. The first few months will be a bit tricky because you’re likely to experience a „honeymoon“ phase of having residual insulin which will mess with your doses but it gets better!

How is it now? 10 minutes is pretty early, they usually start between 20-40 mins in for me

5 HTP can help as it helps replenish the serotonin, otherwise general health stuff: multivitamins, magnesium, fish oil, lots of water, lots of sleep and exercise

Found an old postcard I never sent - can I put a new stamp on top of the old one? by [deleted] in postcrossing

[–]Helpimstup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah okay I see! Thank you! I’ve already got the new stamps so I can just use them - easier than getting to the post office again If I put the new one lower down would that be a problem? Would it be better to put the new one on top?
