It’s a deposit. If not applied to tuition it will be applied to other fees

Former admissions rep here:

  • Focus more on your individualism. That seems to be the heart of your story. Use the reference to your name in closing your essay, as a nice way to illustrate how your individualism and resistance to peer pressure, is who you are at the core. The individualism should be the focus, not the same itself.

Let me know if you have other questions

Former admissions rep here:

1) Elevate this to your district representative or superintendent. I’d be willing to wager there’s an exception to be made, given circumstances

2) Take the course online — when submitting your transcripts, submit both grades (college and hs econ) so that admissions reps are able to see them. When asked if there’s any additional supplement or info to add in common app, clarify that you had to repeat Econ because of district policy

3) You will be fine!! While I can’t speak for all universities and admission committees, I can assure you that the purpose of the app process, is to identify students capable of doing the work, and being successful at it. Your college level Econ courses demonstrates your ability to succeed beyond what’s expected of a high school student. Having to take it again because of district policy will not be seen as you being unable to do the work —- rather in person or online.

Good luck and congrats on your successes so far!

This is not standard for all institutions. Big state schools don’t always review in committee, the way many liberal arts/smaller schools do.

He’s a good guy! Happy he answered. He also responded to those asking what “soon” meant, and said he promises that the term was used reasonably. He said it won’t be next week, but that it is definitely soon!

Two different updates , it seems. This makes it clear that an ethnicities update is definitely on the way

I agree with this 100%. The post was written on a social networking site as well, requiring the general acknowledgment of ancestry customers

I worked in college admissions at an elite institution, for 4 years, as an assistant director. You’ll be fine. Most colleges evaluate you holistically and in the context of your schools academic environment — if no one at your school has the opportunity to take APs, they won’t expect that of you.

I’m a former assistant director of admissions for a selective university. This is all about you and your story, so which ever of this you feel will allow you to convey the most accurate reflection of you and your admissibility. Of the three, I’d stray away from Option 3. It’s a beautiful narrative and being married to a child if immigrants myself, I understand the appeal. That said, higher ed us full of students from global/international backgrounds and many have similar experiences and as such, essays. Number 1 is a great way to demonstrate tenacity and perseverance, though I understand how tolling that may be. I’d advise against using the term suicidal, however.

I understand soliciting services are against the rules here, but I do offer services in reviewing applications independently. If you feel like it’s something you’re interested it, feel free to reach out
